Mirdle has decided not to eat her Innova small bites chicken kibble. She used to love it and eat it dry. No more. I have tried Evo small bites, Evanger's Chicken drummet wet over her kibble, which she liked at first. I have tried Natural Balance dinner roll in beef. She likes something for a few days and then that is it. She can go all day without eating and then maybe peck a bit at around 4 pm. Today she has eaten only a few kibble and it is 7:30 pm. I am really not sure what to do. I sometimes add egg and cheese to her meal which gets her more motivated but nothing really thrills her. Does anyone here have a dog that eats only once a day? And if so how much food?
I just tried adding Deli Fresh Slice and Serve chicken and vegetable dinner which is a natural ready to serve food without anything bad and is made in the US. I love that it is balanced and has no fillers. So far she is just sniffing around it. Has anyone heard of this food? I like what I have read. Mirdle is one adorable little Chi!

I can't answer your questions about brands of food. I just wanted to let you know that when I got Jerry, he would eat one day several times. Then, the next day he would sort of fast. Maybe eat a bit that evening. I worried about his lack of appetite. But, his weight was really good. Now, with Tabitha here, he eats daily and has a tendency to get overweight! I hope Mirdle settles in to a better routine with her meals. From your siggy pic she looks to be a good weight. Try not to panic if she skips a meal.

At our house we have 2 chihuahua's (Violet and Darla), one Bichon (Cody), and a cat (Lou). The dogs are all on Wellness and we leave the food out all day for that reason alone... they eat when they're hungry not when I try to make them eat. They all generally eat more in the evening, but sometimes their food doesn't even look touched! As long as she's a healthy weight and is still gaining you're fine. You can always try to add some yogurt (they LOVE it) in hopes to get some food in her. Or try some new food, they can be pretty picky.

Try boiled chicken fillets, nicely chopped with a bit of the water you boiled it in to make it more juicy. Works a treat for mine who's also a fussy eater. Good luck.

The more you change up the food the more the dog will refuse to eat. She's learned that if she stops eating one food you may give her something "better/different". Eventually you'll be left with a dog that'll refuse most foods.

Kali tried this with me. I simply kept feeding her the normal foods and after she was no longer a tiny pup took whatever she did not eat in twenty minutes. Then, another serving after the human dinner with the same taking back in twenty minutes. Yes, she went hungry a few times.. but she'll eat anything I put down now! Dogs are too smart to starve themselves and I wanted to feed her the best stuff possible and not the dog version of 'candy'. And please note.. she never even lost her bit of dog squish.

How big is she? That'll tell you the total amount per day. My girl is 4.5/5 pounds and gets a third of a cup raw for breakfast and about a fourth of a cup at night. I was feeding her a second third of a cup at night but she never finished it.
