Thought i would share with you my darling lad, Dec 07 we sold our house and our new 1 wasnt ready to move into, so my OH 2 children and myself had to move in with relatives of my OH, they wouldnt let me have Chico as dont like dogs, or any other animals in there house, as we where going to be there for three months , which was far to long for Chico to stay in kennels, my friend !!! offered to have him untill we moved in. the 1st night she let him in her garden to potty , without a lead !!! and she turned her back and he was gone through her hedge, as she had a 10 yr old in the house she never went to look for him. !!!! I was 40 miles away, I phoned up to see how he was getting on in the morning and she said oh ive got bad news, i couldnt believe it, I returned straight away and went to every house, shop, drive, everywhere, i contacted dog wardens, vets, did posters, hes on Alfies lost dogs, and ive carried on looking and still do, he just vanished, he was micro chipped , you never really get over it, i think its the not knowing, he was devoted to me as well,
just thought id share and show you his pic, he would of been 10 on dec 1st just gone, bless him, I have since got my Glyn And the 2 Shih`s, whoom i adore and dont let out of my site, but still wonder about Chico..

Aww! That's so sad! I'm so sorry! I'll be praying & staying positive for you. Don't give up, keep calling dog shelters, emailing pics, putting pics up everywhere including vet offices, stores, pet stores, all around the block where he was lost. I was watching my mom's Corgi and he stayed in the fenced in front yard. He got scared one day from fireworks and ran away. He tried to find his way back home, but only ran further. Some nice people took him in and tried to find his home by knocking on doors. Never knocked on mine or put an ad in the paper. They decided they couldn't keep him, gave him to someone else who didn't want him & turned him loose in the streets. A kill shelter picked him up. The girl who found him originally saw my ad in the paper looking for him & called me & said she'd try to help me find him. I called this no kill shelter many times asking if they had him, but because my description of his color wasn't what they thought it was, they said no. Long story short, finally got him back with a fight. I couldn't believe it, but I never gave up hope.
Your chis adorable & you could tell he's well taken care of so maybe good people have him & will do the right thing. Keep us informed.

thankyou all for your kind comments, its been 3 years now so dont hold out much hope now. but what made me write this is i was telling someone about him and theres someone in this town, our milkman actually , his dog went missing one day and 5 yes 5 years later turned up at the door, his hair was shorter and scruffier but it was him, the police think gipsys had picked him up while camping close by and that they had returned to this area and the dog returned home, so theres still that tiny bit of hope left,

Woodard,
Gosh that was terrible sounds like you were very lucky to get him back, so glad you did,
Ive never heard of a Kill shelter, God that sounds horrible xx

This is such a heartbreak. The not knowing would just kill me. I have to believe that he was picked up by a loving soul who is taking great care of him and that he is healthy and happy.

It was so horrible! I was sick to my stomach cause I was watching him for my mom & I couldn't tell her he was missing. The day I located him, he was to be put down & thank goodness someone looked at him & said he'd make a nice dog for someone & called this no-kill shelter & asked if they had room for him. They said yes & fell in love with him, so when I went to pick him up, they gave me the third degree--how did he get loose? Why did he run away? Do you keep him inside? This made my hubby so mad! They wanted a donation of $50, which my hubby didn't want to give cause he was so mad, but I said it helps to take care of all the other strays.

Unfortunately, here in TN & surrounding areas, there are many Shelters that still put animals down due to overcrowding & ignorant people who refuse to get their animals fix & let them run the streets. It's a really big problem here! People are down-right lazy here. They have free or cheap spading stations offered frequently, but people still won't have their animals fixed.:foxes15:

This breaks my heart.
I only trust a few people with my girls.
They are all family.
Mom, Joey (Fiance), and my Aunt C.
They all know how I would die if something happened to them so they are over protective of them as well.
I am so so sorry for your loss, this is so sad to me. It just breaks my heart.

That is so sad. We had a client get reunited with her Golden Retriever, Shellie (my golden's namesake) almost 4 years after she went missing because her dog ended up at the pound and they wanted to verify the owners information as she was microchipped......I got chills when I brought up the information as I had known that Shellie was missing and had been for quite a while. Animal Control actually saw the dog get out of a yard and so were just verifying information. Shellie was reunited with her original owners, she was obese, had lice & bad dental infections, but her owner got her back to health.

That's so heartbreaking. :( I'm so sorry that happened to you. I can't believe your friend never even called you about it. I only trust my best friend (whom I'd trust with my life) with my pups. I don't even trust my own brother with their care, even though he's very a responsible person.

How wonderful she was reunited. I love happy endings.
