I got the little girl on Thanksgiving Day that I wanted 2 yrs ago. I used to board this little girl because the lady had bought a poodle from me. She originally wanted a poodle to replace the one she had that died, but couldnt afford my puppy so she got this little chihuahua when she was 1 yr old. A few months later she came to me for a poodle for a companion for this chi. I boarded them for about 2 yrs, then she had to move to apartment that only allowed one dog. She never liked the fact that Sandy shed, so of course Sandy was the one to go. She asked me if I would keep her until she found her a home, of course I would have, but she decided to give her to her sister instead. Well, 2 yrs later her sister wanted to 'get rid of Sandy' so now I have her forever!! I am her fourth owner and last, unless I die before Sandy does. I feel so sorry for Sandy, she is depress because I believe she knows they are not coming back to get her once again. How sad, but I love her and will never leave her.

What a cute girl and heartwarming story!! I'm sure she'll settle in fine when she realizes she doesn't have to be bounced around again and finally has a forever home!

She looks a lot like my previous dog Gatsby! If you do a search in previous threads of his name you'll be able to see some pix of him. He lives with one of my friends now but his face especially looks like Sandy.

Sandy isnt eating much yet. She is very scared, moreso than she used to be when I boarded her. But before she had her poodle companion with her. When a new dog comes in I dont just turn them loose. I crate them and slowly let everybody get accustomed to the new dog. Its safer that way. All my poodles grew up with my little old chihuahua "Melody" who passed away last fall. So the poodles are very used to having chi's around and wont hurt them.
Every dog is different. My little old man that I adopted about 3 mo ago came in here like he had always been here. He has never been scared, but he had lived for 3 mo in the animal shelter (dog pound!) and I dont anything about his past.
Sandy will be fine, just takes a few days.
thank you for asking )

You've done a wonderful thing, and as Kristi said, I'm proud of people who have the strength and compassion to rescue.

Of course she'll adapt to the new situation over time. She just needs to realize she's really Home now.

Congratulations on a wonderful addition !

Sandy looks so sweet. It is fitting that she came to her forever home on Thanksgiving. Maybe she will remember your house as being a safe haven and get over being scared quickly.
