There are times that Bella can't catch up to Chanel, Chanel is 8.5 lbs, pure
muscle, has been walking 6 hours per day since she was a pup, Bella has
only been with us 3 months, weighs only 2.5 lbs and is no where near as
strong. BUT Bella does not like that Chanel is faster, and if Chanel runs
too hard and too fast, then Bella gets grumpy. Here is a video...

I love how Bella runs exactly like Chanel just in smaller circles! She wants to be like her big sis so much!!! It's so cute. And the boys wanna play too.

Poor thing wants to be able to keep up, but her legs are just to short and little.

You know it's funny, but Chanel is actually Bella's little sister, she's about half a year younger. I call Chanel, Bella's little big sister, ROFL.

awww! This is so great to watch!! So LS, you don't have any issues with either of the girls running away from you off leash? I wish I could be more lenient with Miya but at the site of a person or another dog, she tries to take off!

GOOD question!

I'm am VERY pro leash, I do NOT recommend to anyone to let their dog off leash
if it wasn't properly trained, does not have good recall, or is easily distracted.
Bella & Chanel have exceptional recall. Both are not interested in anything if
mama is calling them to come. They are always walking on leash, but once we
get to a large grass area or a field, park, etc, then I let them off leash to run
and play a bit. Rocky and Benji are hunters, and no matter how well trained
they are, they can get distracted by a squirrel and decide to hunt instead of
coming, so in urban areas they stay on leash, and get teased by the girls
having fun running circles around them.

did you train them to be like that or did it just happen?

Of course we trained, we trained daily, at every opportunity, at home, outside,
in new locations, with distractions, etc. Started on a 30 foot leash, with praise
and even occasional treats. I find Chihuahuas are very easy to train compared
to most breeds, they want to please their owner so bad, Chanel & Bella love
training and learning, it's fun for both them and I. The Basenji brothers are a
whole other story though. LOL

HA! My younger sister is bigger than me and I'm tiny and petite so she calls me her little big sister and I call her my big little sister. :)

That video was so cute. Chanel is such a tease, haha.

That was such a cute video. I want to train Mylo to be able to run free but at the moment he does not have good recall. I'll have to get a big lead and work on recall. As a child I had a king Charles spaniel and a chihuahua and they were both excellent off lead. I'd take them to the park on my own and let them off the lead and never had a single problem.

Mylo came over to look while I was playing the video. He liked your voice...he heard it and came running over! He watched the rest of it with his head to the side and then licked the screen!

Aww cute! How old is your sister?
And yes Chanel is definitely a tease, you should see what she does with
toys...she will grab one in her mouth, like a fluffy squirrel for example, and
then she would run up to Bella with the toy still in her mouth, and poke Bella
with it in the face! Poor Bella gets so frustrated that she can't get the toy,
and runs after Chanel, trying, and trying, and trying, lol. Chanel eventually
gives in and lets Bella pull on the other end of the toy, and they play tug.
Sooo funny!

aww, loved the video!!! they are having so much fun :D
Oh Elaine, they really do have fun...all day looooong! They are inseparable.
Hubby often says "We got a toy for Chanel"...when referring to Bella. Because
Bella is always there to entertain Chanel, lol, it's fun. I can watch them play
all day, it makes me so happy.

They are soooo adorable. I wish that we lived in an area where Elvis could be off leash, he has tremendous recall as well, but where we live, they are adamant about no dog being off leash ever. :(
Well, I'm in an urban city, so technically I'm not allowed to have my pups off
leash either......I know that every time I let them stretch their feet a
little I take a risk of possibly getting a ticket. But the girls love it, stay near
me the entire time, come immediately when called, they are registered(aka
are legal) and I pick up all the poopoos. And when I see another dog, even if
it's far far away, I immediately put my girls back on leash, just out of respect,
because I know some dogs can get excited when seeing little ones run
around. So we are responsible, but do allow the girls to have a little fun, at a
possible high cost of a ticket.

Awww Mylo is so cute! What a sweetheart. :love2:

I think you'll have great success training Mylo if you start young, and if
you neuter him. If he stays intact forget it, he'll most probably wonder
off following the scent of bit**es on the wind. Those naughty boys!

He'll most definitely be getting neutered! He's got a month or two yet (he's 20 weeks) but since we're getting a girl there isn't a question about it, not that there was before. I want to cut down on behaviours like marking, humping and attempting to escape and lower the risk of some health problems though I do worry about the procedure!

He does follow me everywhere so perhaps he would be ok but I'd be afraid that he'd see a pigeon or a small child and run off (he adores children and will run after them in the street or refuse to move past them in case they stop to stroke him!

Melissa, the neutering procedure is easy breezy, I assure you it's a piece of cake.
Spaying is more complicated and therefore a bit worrisome. You know,
I like what my vet says "You have to always go into it with confidence, but
be aware of possible complications". Because no matter what, there is always
a risk with any surgery, but you have to have faith in your vet, otherwise you'll
spend the day stressing your butt off while waiting for your baby to come out.
I've been through a whole lot of neuters, with my dogs and rescues, and never
had an issue. The boys bounce back super fast, like nothing happened. You are
the one who has to keep them calm and remind them that they just had surgery
and to stop running and jumping! I swear that is the toughest part...
keeping them calm after surgery, they move on as if it was no biggie.
