Will be thinking of you Jan and of sweet Cocoa tomorrow as he has his surgery. I bet he will surprise you with how quickly he recovers. :)

Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way and Cocoa's. I know it is always nerve racking when our babies are at the vets for anything. Try to stay busy tomorrow...shoot us an update when you hear something. *HUGS*

Cocoa has 1 undescended testicle so the Vet says that will take alittle more time....... can anyone tell me if the 'cut' will be larger/bigger??? is there more recovery time with that?? anything else I need to know??

I am reading that this condition is associated with medical problems down the road, correct?

Yes, his incision will be bigger. It's a more complicated surgery. More similar to a spay than a neuter as they have to go into his abdomen to retrieve the testicle. You may notice some swelling and/or bruising. Do you have a onesie on hand? In case of licking? You just button it up the back. Some dogs will lick at their incisions and you want to avoid that. A onesie works well and is more comfortable for them than the cone.

You both will do great :):):)

Remember, Neuters go pretty smooth compared to the spays. And the baby tooth pull is so worth it and usually is quite easy, and after microchiping my boys when they were under, I dreaded having to watch them jab my little girl with that needle ( even though she was a brave heart & didn't even flinch).

I think you should do something nice for yourself tomorrow while you are waiting ( polish your toes, read a book, have a decadent flavored coffee or tea etc...unless you are working and that will help keep your mind occupied)

Hugs....

Yeah, I used just a cute baby onsie and it worked so well on Marmalade. You will have to cut a hole for the tail. I lucked out, Marmalade doesn't have a tail. lol By putting it on backward, it covers more area and is easier to put on and take off.

yeah, like Pam said - just a regular baby onesie. It will keep his belly and incision area clean and dry and covered (but breathable) and he won't have to wear a cone. I used one for Brody after his neuter and his tail just went through where the snaps are at the crotch of the onesie.

Like one of these .....

Duh, I totally missed this post before sending my other one.. Sorry! Alvins testicles were barely descended ( one more than the other) and he didn't have any issues..back to normal the next day. I was worried it would be harder on him, but it wasn't. He wanted to play 24 hours later...I had to really play moniter to keep them calm. His incision was no bigger than the others if I recall correctly, and he didn't bother it.
