Teary eyes are kind of a chi trait - I wipe my babies all the time.....unless your talking about something specific.....can you give more details?
is it just one or both? is it accompanied by squinting? does she act like it bothers her? is there any kind of color to it or just clear?

i read that chi's have teary eyes, it's a tear duct thing, something about them being too small. i can't remember the details. but it said to avoid the tear staining try and wipe the eyes with a cotton ball dampened with distilled water once a day, wipe the eye with a dry cotton ball a few times a day and clean them with a tear stain remover (all very gently)
thank you.. it's just a clear tear...and i don't think it irritates her...maybe i'll go buy the eye wipe and the drops....but if you still have any idea ..please..tnx
If it is clear, its ok. I do occasionally give Nina an eyewash with a chamomile tea bag, chamomile has antibiotic properties, and I do it just as a preventative.
Chamomille is a good advice!

momtonina : I am really surprised that you knew this. I noticed that here in the US people don't really care too much for herbal stuff while in Italy and I can say in Germany too (my sis in law is from there) they would give you all kinds of herbal treatments before anything else.
Chamomille is good for so many things. I knew this thing about the eyes too.
They also say it's good to calm you down. They would give it to newborns too (a lighter kind that comes in powder).
I LOVE herbal/natural stuff!

me too and that tea is awesome!!
Teary eyes is a definite Chi trait. If it's clear and not bothering her, it's normal. Tucker even has a tear or two run down his face when he gets excited about getting a special treat to eat. Others have posted that the same goes for their Chis. Enjoy your new baby, and try not to worry overmuch. :)

Chiara, I love herbal remedies too...my husband is Israeli and we used all kinds of herbal remedies there for all kinds of problems. Just wanted to tell you, as you are expecting a baby, that, camomile tea, made very weak, is excellent for a baby that cries due to colic or an upset tummy. Both of mine drank it and it does really calm them down naturally :)

Thanks Camilla, I actually knew that. I was pretty surprised they don't give it to babies here in the US. My mom is a pharmacist in Italy and say she is going to send me some jars of that chamomille powder. Over there they give it to newborn between one meal (milk) and the other, just to calm the baby down.
I miss all the herbal products that we use back home!
I had some insomnia this summer when my husband was deployed and when I went to a doctor here he gave me all kinds of medicine that just ended up making me sick (he gave me ambien that made me feel like if my stomach was burning and had to go to the ER, gosh I am 23 years old, I am surprised he even gave me that....well, stupid military doctor....what a jerk!!!!) ....my mother had to send me some valerian drops and pills. Valerian dispert is very good to calm you down and hey...it's NATURAL, so what's better than that!
