Hello all, my name is Karen and I am from the UK. I have two Chi babies, both rescue Chihuahuas. Candy, our little girl, came from appalling conditions in a puppy farm type environment and we paid full price for a puppy to get her out of there! She is now a happy three year old spayed girl. Our boy, Nero is a more recent rescue and, although he has some awful habits, he is much loved. We have had him neutered this week because he was marking everything in the house. We are hoping this bad habit will stop in time. He was a stud dog so all he is used to is being kept outdoors for this purpose, bless him. He is four years old and loved already.

Does anyone have any advice about stopping Nero from marking his territory? The vet said it will stop as his hormones deplete after he was neutered.

Welcome! and the marking should slow when he's fixed, it can take a week or so to deplete the testosterone, but it may not go completely away. make sure when he's at teh vet you get an enzyme fighting cleaner ( i use petastic, but not sure if you can get it everywhere ) and clean all his spots with that. or just clean everything with it, even if you cleaned it with a regular cleaner. You really need the enzyme eating stuff, so he won't smell it and be reminded that he needs to mark that. We got salem fixed late, cause i was desperately hoping he would stand his ears up -_- and he still marks occasionally, and always has to wear belly bands at houses with dogs.

anyway Welcome to the Forums!!!!!!!!!!!!
