Hi there! I've previously owned a chihuahua, but he passed on in 2006, and I've wanted another (been patiently waiting 'till the time was right) for some time now. My hubby and I are now the proud new owners of "Alaska" (named for where I got my last chi, Rocky from.) Alaska had warmed up just fine to me, but he's a little iffy with hubby, unnecessarily protective, so any suggestions on how to break him of this behavior before it becomes ingrained would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome.
I was going to say let him feed him too, and do more things for him in general.
If he growls at your hubby and the pup is near you at the time, like on your lap for instance, imediately put him off and say no.

Going to check out the pics now, lol xx
