I searched the posts on here and saw a few Chis that are built similar to Nina. She is a deer chi, and very lanky, as was her parents. But she is starting to look too skinny for me. She eats better than she used to, I give her cut up chicken or hamburger with her Royal Canin every day, and she is very playful and active. But her ribs and her tailbone show.
She goes to the vet tomorrow, and I am worried he is going to think we do not feed her enough. I did see one of her littermates the other day, and he is built the same way. How do I handle the vet if he starts seeming critical? I am sure he will also want to run bloodwork, which I am fine with, but I feel she is healthy as can be, just skinny.

skinny

My little guy is as skinny as they get but very healthy. It is just the way his build is. My vet has never made any comments. The vet should be able to tell what is and is not healthy. My little guy with his long skinny neck reminds me of the chi on the ren and stimpy cartoon

Nina has a lllllooong neck, lol she can stretch it pretty far. Her whole body is long and lean. I have even wondered if she is going through a growth spurt and she just has not filled out, but grown length and height wise. I'd be more worried if she was acting different, but everything else is normal. She eats all her food, is very playful, poops are normal, in short, all is normal. She is just skinny.
I do not know why I am so worried, lol. I was the same way when I took my kids to the pediatrician, worried that they weren't growing enough. She is just like another baby to us.

bring up your concern for her shape and if the vet see's you are concerned about it then i don't think he will be critical or anything....

good luck
Yep you should beat them to the punch if you're concerned about her weight say it. I do that when I'm worried about someone thinking something, I talk too much  Then afterward I think it makes me seem like I'm guilty of something
