So mocha is now 9 weeks and doing great, just got her puppy shots this week.. My husband and i noticed she just doesnt bark! She growls when she plays but no barks... Is this odd?! Were not complaining.. Just wondering lol
No barking??

Nope its not odd. Hothchi doesnt really bark either. Its probably a good thing, the loud high pitched barki g can get quite irritating lol especially if you have more than one

I know every dog if different. Hope did not bark until about 12 weeks. Ruby was 14 weeks when we got her and barked then and Eden was 8 months so obviously barked by the time we got her.
Thank goodness, only Ruby remains the steady barker. The other two will only bark if she startles them.

Lol from what i just read while googling is that it may take months but... My last chi never barked unless i got her really riled up... She also learned to sing with me...howling of course lol

Despite a reputation as "yappers" I have met a few chis who didn't ever bark. Kerri didn't bark until she was about 5 months (although now she is happy to bark at any visitors knocking or ringing the doorbell). We also had a foster chi who NEVER barked. We actually had her checked out, thinking she might have been de-barked, but the vet couldn't really tell with her awake. Months later her adopter called me and said "she barked" but last I heard that was the last time.

Little puppies don't bark. Mine, chis and labs both, didn't bark until 6 months or so. Shell find her bark soon enough!

Hahaha i think i spoke too soon! I heard about 10 puppy barks in a row tonight while she was playing with my husband lol... Shouldnt have said anything haha... But shes a total whiner if she wants up on the bed to sleep lol
There have only been 2 times I've heard Lacey bark:
1) When a friend dropped a pillow on the ground in the room next to where she was and it startled her, and
2) When she first saw a cat
She does have separation anxiety, and howls like a dying cat, though. :/

Oh she probably will. Amberleah didn't bark for a while. When she first did it was so cute. But now Bark Bark Bark!!!!
awww that probably sounded really cute! I don't think I've ever heard Nike do a puppy bark. She went from being a howler to grownup barks!
