We have doggy dental hygentists who do teeth cleaning for dogs and cats without using anesthesia, has aonyone heard of this? Has anyone ever tried this on their pets? I was thinking about giving it a try, but wasen't sure if it was successful, its cheaper than doing it through the vet, but if it dosen't work, i'd rather just use the vet.

I personally don't think that you can get a good teeth cleaning and polishing done on an awake dog and not at all on an awake cat! You simply can't tell an animal to sit still and keep their mouths open. My dogs are tolerant beyond all belief and I can hand scale their teeth but I could not do a dental on them and get the polishing (which is critical to the cleaning) done if they were awake. I wouldn't waste my money, I would save up and have a good dental done under anesthesia so I know it's done well and correctly.
