here is everything you need to know when submitting your photos all in one post :)

**MAKE SURE THAT YOU DONT RESIZE YOUR PHOTOS AS WHEN THE PHOTO GETS SMALLER THE QUALITY DETERIORATES..WE ARE ASKING FOR YOU TO SEND THE ORIGINAL PHOTO WITH NO RESIZING SO THAT WE GET THE BEST QUALITY POSSIBLE. THOSE WHO SENT TOO SMALL OF PICS THEIR CHI'S PICS WILL BE PRINTED SMALL IN THE CALENDER AND WE DONT WANT ANYONES PICTURES TO BE EXTREMELY SMALL :( PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THEIR JPG OR BMP FORMAT BECAUSE I CANNOT OPEN ANY OTHER FILES. WE ARE ASKING THAT YOUR PHOTOS BE IN HIGH RESOLUTION IN THE 300 KB AND OVER RANGE..THE LOWEST WE WILL ACCEPT IS 210 KB. IT IS ALSO GOOD TO USE NATURAL SUNLIGHT AS SUPPOSE TO THE FLASH SO YOUR CHI DOESNT GET RED/BLUE SILVER EYE. ALSO DISABLE THE THING THAT SHOW THE DATE ON PICTURES..MOST CAMERAS HAVE THE SHUT OFF SETTING IN THE MENU. PLEASE TRY AND SEND PHOTOS THAT YOU THINK ARE SUITABLE FOR A CALENDER..HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES:

*take a colorful nice blanket hang it up on a wall and place your chi in front of it..it makes a beautiful backround
*laying in the grass *easy*
*if you have a smaller chi place a basket in the grass and put your chi in it-so cute i did that with jelly when she was a baby
*place your chi infront of a bunch of flowers *easy* or even smelling the flowers
* if any of you have fall leaves on the ground make a pile and stick your chi in the middle of it
*another good/easy background is a lit fireplace.. real or electric it looks nice.. so that is an opition for some

**THOSE WHO HAVE MULTIPLE CHI'S WE ARE ASKING THAT YOU TAKE GROUP PHOTOS AS WELL

REMEMBER BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR PHOTOS..GET IDEAS FROM OTHER DOG CALENDERS IF YOU'D LIKE..THE CUT OFF DATE IS NOT TILL ABOUT SEPTEMBER 21ST SO YOU HAVE TIME TO GET THINGS RIGHT :) AND SEND AS MANY AS YOU'D LIKE SO WE HAVE A VARIETY TO CHOOSE FROM

PEOPLE WHO HAVENT DONE SO YET DONT FORGET I NEED YOUR USERNAME,CHI NAME AND YOUR CHI'S BDAY

-SEND ALL PHOTOS TO THE FOLLOWING EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected]

I THINK THAT IS IT..IF THERE IS MORE QUESTIONS JUST ASK THEM HERE.

Some people have remarked about finding a pet photographer in their area after I had Cooper's photos done.

Here are some suggestions on how to find one:

  • Call a wedding photographer (they're easier to find) and ask if they take dog portraits OR if they can refer you to someone.

If there's a meetup group in your area, join and get on their message boards and ask if anyone knows of a good photographer. Sometimes, the pet photographers will actually be on the meetup board. (http://chihuahua.meetup.com)

Check the boards at Petsmart and Petco or your local pet store. Sometimes, pet photographers leave their cards. In our stores, they're right as you walk in the door with lost pet notices and puppies for sale.

Lastly, call your local newspaper and see if one of the staff photographers do portraits on the side. Sometimes, you can find someone at a local college or high school as well.

I paid $75 for Jen to take Cooper's photos for an hour. If I had gone to her studio and needed lighting, etc, it would have cost me $150/hr. The best part is she just gave me the digital images and I can have them printed however I want.

We just went to a local park and she stood around and took photos as he interacted with me and her dog. If you have a really good camera or a really good friend with a really good camera, you could probably do the same thing for free.

I hope that helps for those who were interested!
