Some people have remarked about finding a pet photographer in their area after I had Cooper's photos done.
Here are some suggestions on how to find one:
I paid $75 for Jen to take Cooper's photos for an hour. If I had gone to her studio and needed lighting, etc, it would have cost me $150/hr. The best part is she just gave me the digital images and I can have them printed however I want.
We just went to a local park and she stood around and took photos as he interacted with me and her dog. If you have a really good camera or a really good friend with a really good camera, you could probably do the same thing for free.
I hope that helps for those who were interested!
Here are some suggestions on how to find one:
- Call a wedding photographer (they're easier to find) and ask if they take dog portraits OR if they can refer you to someone.
If there's a meetup group in your area, join and get on their message boards and ask if anyone knows of a good photographer. Sometimes, the pet photographers will actually be on the meetup board. (http://chihuahua.meetup.com)
Check the boards at Petsmart and Petco or your local pet store. Sometimes, pet photographers leave their cards. In our stores, they're right as you walk in the door with lost pet notices and puppies for sale.
Lastly, call your local newspaper and see if one of the staff photographers do portraits on the side. Sometimes, you can find someone at a local college or high school as well.
