I am beginning to hate Amanda's PE teacher... First he tells her that she has to start particapating or she was going to get a 0(she was out of breath so she had stopped to rest)
So I wrote her a note to give to him telling him again that she has asthema and that when she gets winded or out or breath or any thing to that affect she has to stop and rest.. and that means at anytime during the class time... I also told him that if he had any question or problems with this to call me and I gave him my phone number.

Then she comes home from school on Friday and she can hardly walk.. she told ne that she had slipped and twister her ankle on the wet grass on the field because her teacher was making them run on it... This is after it rained for like a week... her ankle was swollen adn purple by the time she got home that afternoon so she pretty much couldn't use it all weekend. so on monday I wrote her another note telling him that she wasn't to do pe that day. then this after noon she comes home and tells me he got mad at her because she didn't want to run on the wet field again... I can't blame her... I wouldn't want to either... I was just at the school yeateday and the grass was wet then so I know it was wet first thing this morning... I told her if this happens again to excuse herself and tell him that she was goign to the office. I told her to go to the office and call me and I would go over there and straighten the guy up...

I believe she needs to do PE but I also believe she needs to be safe and to feel safe while doing PE....

Ya know, sometimes I don't think they're thinking at all when they do things like that. My mom was well known at my school because she would go up there if she thought they were doing anything she didnt like to me....lol embarrassing at times but really cool cuz I got to see my mom yell at a teacher I didn't like. I've had a few incidents in my PE class too. I think its something with PE teachers. But I'm hypoglocimic, and PE is usually around 11 or 12 right before lunch, and of course I had breakfast that morning like around 7, but I usually had to eat a little snack inbetween that time. But if I ran or did really energetic things for to long if I hadn't had much to eat, I get really sick. For some reason my PE teacher could not comprehend that at all! My mom sent letters with me like every day and I don't know if she even read them. My mom finally went up there and seriously talked her and I was able to do my excersises and then rest a bit and start again just fine after that, and pasted with an A lol! GO MOMS! So I'm definitly up for you teaching that teacher whats up! ....hehehehe!

wow...the pe teachers here aren't that bad.

There was one point where 3 days in a row, Mr. Ream had us run the same route and my foot had been bothering me and I told him i couldnt run so he just told me to walk it. Simple as that!

But your daughter's PE teacher doesn't seem all that....nice.

My daughter has asthma too and last school year(before she had to have Bedside)her gym teacher was being such an a**-even after I talked to him-that my daughters specialist went to the school and talked to him. Her Dr.was so angry after talking to the ignorant S.O.B.- he demanded Samantha be removed from his class-the guy just refused to believe that she was'nt faking! Anyway, most of her teachers (before and after) have been very understanding, Thank Goodness!-You may want to remove her from this guys class(even though the school year is almost over) For my daughter the retaliation she got from her teacher was worse than the initial problem.

I think it must be that PE teachers have to pass a stupidty test before they can teach... I hated every single PE teacherI ever had.

My sophmore year in high school, they flunked me in PE- because I had knee surgery! I told my mom I wanted to beat the teacher with my crutches! *sigh* Unfortunately she told me no. :( I went to a new school for the last two years!

Hi i still do school work but don't do school anymore am homeschooled.

The teacher should not be allowed to let children run on wet grass. I think you should speak to someo9ne else at the school as this teacher sounds like a bully.

my gym teacher in middleschool was a prick! he had it out for me just cause my relatives were bad a**es when they were in school. my mom was there almost every week dealing with him. the principal was bad on me to,. same reason. i don't hesitate to speak my mind when it comes to kylie and school. she was having a problem with ehr bus driver telling her to hurry up and that she is a slow poke (the girl is 5 and has sore legs most mornings cause she is having growth spurts) now this is what i have to look forward to.........

Doctor's note. That overrides all.
The teacher can get in to trouble by not making kids participate otherwise.
But, he/she can't force your child to particpate; nor can they give failing grades when a doctor's note is on file. :)

I would talk to the teacher once in person., if that does not do it I would go over his head to the principal. The principal at my kids school is very eager to please, she wants the best school for her children and most of the parents are pretty active around the school.
I would not tolerate this at all.

I had problems with PE teachers when my kids were in school also - have to agree that must have to take stupidity tests to qualify to teach PE! LOL

I don't know how it is in other states, but in Florida they can get into some serious problems if they force a child to participate in PE when they have a dr. note or note from the parent.

i remember i had one relaly nice gym teacher, she would let us do our own thing as long as we were active. the boys would be doing basketball, ping pong ext and the girls would be jumping rope, badmitton and even those hand games where 2 girls face ech other and clap hands together and do those rhyme things like "miss mary mac mac mac all dressed in black black black) summer time we'd go outside and we would have the option of playing feild hockey ect. we got to vote on it, we'd have a week of the voted activity. all she asked was that you were busy and active and changed clothes. and it worked out so well for everyone, even the one's with medical conditions like asthma and stuff cause for them, she would have them collect equipment and stuff and they would earn a grade.

Thank you every body your your support...

I haave doctors letters on file fron the time she was in kindergarten.. I have had an on going time from her asthema doctor up at OHSU hospital in Portland Oregon.. This hospital is connected with Dornbeckers Children's Hospital. This letter states that no matter what year it is or what school activity it is if she get out of breath she HAS no choice but to STOP take a few slow deep breaths sit down for 5 or 10 minutes and then continue...

I talked to her regular teacher today and told her what was going on and she told me that under no cirumstance should this teacher be doing this to her or any student. I told her what I told Amanda to do the next time he does something Like this.. \Her teacher said that is the way to deal with it... To have her go to the office and call me and me go over there at that time and deal with him...

Mark said last night that if he didn't want to talk to me then Mark would go over and kick his A**..... not that he would have to because I can deal with any man bullying my daughter...

The PE teacher is a moron. Arguing with him is only going to stress you out and make his day. If you have a doctor's note on file, go to an administrator. Start with the principal. If that doesn't get you anywhere go higher. A PE teacher simply can NOT go against doctor's orders. If you have to, threaten them with an advocate or an attorney.

If passing/failing becomes an issue, there's something called a 504 that I can help you with if need be.

When the administrator comes down on the teacher, if the teacher tries to take it out on your kid, go right back to the admn. The person in charge has probably had to deal with this teacher in similar situations before. So, you might get results more easily than you'd expect.
