does anyone experience plantar fasciitis? I *think* its what is causing my foot pain(have Dr appt).... esp. in the mornings or if I sit for awhile, when I walk its extremely painful (heel area)... did some research and some say it could be Lyme diease but I haven't been around any ticks......

if you experience this pain, what can I do to help with the pain?

I was diagnosed with this once... but I don't know a lot about it really.
I know that wearing the highest quality walking shoes are best with the best insoles. whats best for me is New Balance. I payed so much for them but its worth it.
also I remember my dr telling me to help it you can take an empty plasic water or soda bottle ( I think the smaller size kind, not the 1 liter or 2 liter but the 20 oz or smaller ), and fill it up with water and then freeze it. then when its frozen , you can put it under your arch and heel part and keep it on it off and on and it may help it feel better ....

also, I hope you don't have anything like this but I did just think of some other foot pain I've had recently. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and as a side effect from it you could get neuropathy which can cause foot pain. I used to have neuropathy but since I now am on the right kind of diet , it has mostly gone away

Hi, my partner was diagnosed this last year, the pain is only just dying down, it's where a spur of bone has grown downward in the heel and is rubbing on the tendon, he has tried so many things, he was due to have an operation the file the bone down but didn't have it. If you need any help I know so much about it xx

thanks.. I don't think is is Neuropathy as I had this in my hands when I was on Chemo a couple of yrs ago... that indeed hurts like He##... this feels like a very bad bruise on my heel area and bottom of foot esp. in the morning when my feet first hit the floor :foxes15:

I did buy new shoes, several pair in fact (Nike)... I wonder if its the shoes.... I do usually by WIDE but Nike didn't have WIDE so I bought the regular width ones... I am going to take a look at those New Balance ones...

Elaine!!! :( I'm so sorry....my mom recently took a blood test for diabetes as well. She won't be gettin the results till they're done. I hope urs is the treatable type <3
thanks Pidge, I hope your moms test comes back ok.
mine is Type 2 diabetes but since I got diagoned that motivated me to lose the 60 pounds and eat a healthy type diet ( one that's good for diabetics, so I cut out all sugar and a lot of carbs I cut out also ).
before that I was really in a very unhealthy eating mode. Its kind of like , I have this addiction to sweets and junk food and just want more and more when i'm eatin it. but now I am in a healthy mode and feel so much better and my blood levels have improved so much since I've been eating healthy and losing weight and excersizing . :)

Jan,
yes, take a look at the new balance walking shoes. theres a lot of really great makes but I actually chose the new balance cause I also have wide width ( actually extra wide width ) , and new balance carries my size.
I couldn't find the width I wanted in the regular store here, so i ordered the online ... I cant remember the site I got them from , but I know they had a great return policy, so I took a chance and it worked out perfect for me

Get a good foot massage (try to find someone who has been trained to work out plantar fascitis, there are some out there!) and walk around barefoot as much as possible!

Icing is a good idea, don't keep it on for more than 15 min at a time, and make sure you leave it off for at least 15 as well. You can also get a tennis ball/golf ball/bouncy ball and roll it around on the floor with your foot to do some self massage. You want to try to keep your feet as flexible and mobile as possible. Look into "minimal" shoes - Vibrams are AMAZING!

NewBalance, as Elaina stated, have wide widths. We are lucky because there is a New Balance outlet about 45 minutes from where we live. It's in Brighton. I usually buy two pair when I go there. But now I am into clogs! I have Dansko right now but I think the Sanita would have been better! Last year I was diagnosed with capsulitis of the second toe! It's basically an inflamed ligament! It feels like you have a rock in your shoe under the ball of your foot. But it is extremely painful! Clogs were the only thing to make it better! If I don't wear them, then I have pain again!

If you decide to buy a pair, they are not cheap! It took me 3 months to get up the courage to buy a pair! Do a lot of research online before you buy! I did it "after" I bought mine and wish I had that info earlier! There is a "breaking in" period and a specific way they are supposed to fit! I bought mine too small. Now I'm stuck with them! I did manage to stretch them, but I really need them to be a little bigger! Once you adjust to them, they are the most comfortable shoes I've worn!

Good luck.

I've had plantar fasciitis before as I have extremely flat feet. I haven't found much that helps honestly.... I went to a podiatrist and he recommended custom made insoles which I can't afford (they wanted $300). I have the New Balance shoes but my feet still hurt after walking 10 minutes or so. There are some exercises/stretches you can do that can help. Doing a google search will give you tons.

I'm a runner and years ago had a bout with plantar fasciitis. It reoccurred this past spring. The two bouts were about 15 years apart. I have no idea what sets it off but it is painful. I can vouch for New balance shoes. I have worn this brand for running for years. A couple other things I have found helpful. Fill a water bottle and freeze it. Standing up, roll the arch of your foot back and forth over the frozen water bottle. Feels wonderful! Also, to stretch the arch roll up a towel. Place your toes up on the rolled towel and keep your heels on the floor. This is a great stretch!

Yes I have it and omg it does hurt. There are some exercises you can do to help stretch the tendon. I usually stretch my calves about 100 times per day which helps. Also the frozen water bottle is a god.sent .

I also wanted to add that I have 2 different pairs of new balance walking shoes and one of them are just ok.... the others are really great.
so, it does make a difference which style you pick.
I got mine online because I have a hard to fit size ( xxwide) I think it was newbalance.com but not 100 percent sure ).
I asked on the phone for a recomondation on the best ones, I told them I had foot problems and wanted the best support in a walking shoe... I think I paid around 100 dollars or maybe alittle more. its worth it though for a comfy shoe

thanks everyone...... I did try the frozen water bottle thing and it does help(and feels good), also the Tennis ball works(although chico and Kody can't figure out why I took their Tennis balls from their Toybox..lol)... I can't imagine what started all this, fine one day the next it hurts to walk....:foxes15:

I looked at the new Balance but can't decide what to buy there yet-still looking though.... I also went to Orthaheelusa and bought a pair of inserts and a pair of shoes. I have noticed that when I wear a pair of my shoes without the air cushions on the sole, I seem to have more problems...

About Plantar Fasciitis

does anyone experience plantar fasciitis? I *think* its what is causing my foot pain(have Dr appt).... esp. in the mornings or if I sit for awhile, when I walk its extremely painful (heel area)
I had plantar fasciitis and my pain pattern was about the same. I guess this is what the doc will tell you too.
For any of you who want to get some information about it I have found this website: Plantar Fasciitis Elrofeet to be very informative. They talk about causes, treatments and more. As far as I understand too narrow shoes can cause plantar fasciitis. I am over it today and I hope you will soon be.
Good luck

I have it both feet plus in my left foot I have 2 heel spurs, one on the back of my heel & one on the bottom. It's extremely painful! I've been to a podiatrist & was told I need surgery but I just can't make myself get it done. The recovery process is long & I know it would be so hard having kids and other things I hafta take care of. I know it would benefit me to lose some weight too, but I can't do exercise on my feet so it's hard to do things like that. I need to get some New Balances myself, but I'm not sure which ones to get.
Good luck to you, I can sympathize! I hope you find something that will help you!
