Playing or Aggression?

I am not sure if Snickers and Reeses interactions with each other are playing or being frisky.

What I mean is sometimes they will sit nicely in the bed with each other, and then I turn around and they are licking each other on the mouth.

Ok...but then it turns into something that looks like they are biting each other in the neck. Then Reeses does this thing that looks like she is slapping him in the face. Then she runs into her crate.

I am confused because it looks kind of scary. Are they just playing or is it something else?

I bet they are just playing. Cooper plays all the time with his friend Keltie. They growl and bite and bark. But sometimes they get in a real fight, and you can tell when dogs are truely fighting and it's no longer playing. It sounds and looks serious.
It sounds like they are playing. Does either of them yelp as if they are in pain?
No, they don't yelp.

Snickers might growl a little. (And he is a VERY quiet dog)

I just get so worried about the biting of the neck thing. I guess I watch too many animals in nature shows.
Mine do exactly the same thing alays biting the neck and they make the molst vicious noises but I know they are only playing :D
Gosh Kemo body slams Bindi, bites her ear, she lunges on him grabs his collar, hangs on as he tries to shake her off, then she will come up and bite the side of his face, then he bites her leg to knock her down, then she bites his leg. all the while growling and chasing each other from room to room :D

yeah sounds like they are playing

LOL sounds like a fun show :)

When I had 2 dogs at once they did a lot of what I called "open-mouth" biting. It looks like they're killing each other, but the mouth never closes all the way, so there is no real bite.
I think it is only playing. I had Faith, my daughter's mini doxie here earlier this week to play with Jasmine. I was watching them play, and they were biting each other on the neck, growling, etc. I watched them a few minutes because I was afraid it would become a real fight, but it never did. This is just the way they play. I did notice who the alpha dog was though - if you guessed Jasmine, you would be correct. LOL

oh yes how can I forget that!!
Snickers' site is adorable! Happy Birthday Snickers! Cody just turned 3mos old, and reminds me of Reeses.
