These are both poems I wrote when I was in Creative Writing in my school last year. Heartbeat Fading was one where we had to write about a painful memory (which, for me, was my uncle's death a few years ago), and I can't remember what the topic for Deep Velvet Darkness was.

Heartbeat Fading

In a small room
A life slowly slipped
To the rhythm
Beep, beep, beep

Breathing machine
Heart monitor
Tubes and ties

Two brothers, a niece
A sister-in-law
Waiting, watching, wondering

In a small room
A life slowly slipped
To the rhythm
Beep, beep, beep

Into the unit
A white coat slowly stepped
A doctor, a chart, a pen

Prognosis poor
Improvement indefinite
Waiting, watching, wondering

In a small room
A life slowly slipped
To the rhythm
Beep, beep, beep

Deep Velvet Darkness

Silent stars softly shine
Like diamonds in dark blue blackness
Of deep velvet darkness

Streetlights cast their golden glow
As they chase the monsters

Beautiful breezes blow
Rustling red and russet leaves

Sleeping schoolchildren slowly snore
As the Sandman slips slumber sand

Naughty nightmares wreak havoc
Swiftly stealing sweet dreams

Lullabies lull
Little darlings into Dreamland

Silent stars softly shine
Like diamonds in dark blue blackness
Of deep velvet darkness

Tell me what you think, and feel free to post any of your poems in here as well. :)
