Bear, who was given to me as a "housetrained dog," is not. He knows to pee outside, but he always poops inside. Even if I walk him on a leash, or let him out in the backyard for 45 minutes, he comes right in an poops on the rug. He goes out 4-5 times a day too. This is extremely frustrating! Any idea on how to teach him to poop outside ONLY? Thanks!

Angel is trained to go inside and out, but uses a pee pad. I don't know if this will work, but if he goes in the same spot, try putting a pee pad there. Then gradually move it closer and closer to the door.
Also, when I did the training for Angel to go outside, once again I made a big deal out of it and brought him right back in when finished. Now, if he does his duties outside, I will take him off the lead and let him run around with our golden for a short bit!

Good luck. If that doesn't work, you can always resort back to crate training! It's hard for us to keep them confined, but if we are diligent, success comes rather quick!

Yeah he usually poops in the same area. I'd hate to crate train him because he spent most of his life locked up in cage prior to me adopting him. I suppose I shall try the pee pads. Thanks :)

Okay just an update. I broke down and crate him when I'm not around. Bear isn't thrilled, but it stops any accidents from happening. I came to this conclusion when my boyfriend told me he hated the dog and he doesn't want to live in a "pissy house." I got stain remover, and cleaned all the areas up. Hopefully this will shut the boyfriend up. He doesn't realize that I love this dog, and at this point in the relationship, I'd pick the dog over him. :/
