Hi everyone
I just got back, the puppies seemed to be of good health and the owner had many other chihuahuas. Although the surroundings were not bad i feel they could have been better.
They seemed to be well socialised
I really dont know what to do, the puppies were addorable.

I saw both mom and dad, but their were about 8 or 9 adult chi's. They were kept in the kitchen and seemed to be happy.
I have been looking for ages and really want a chi pup but they are so hard to come by in the uk.

Where exactly in the Uk are u? and where did you find out about the litter? are the puppies KC registered? sorry for all the questions but there are a lot of puppy farms popping up and if you're not 100% about the surroundings can I ask why? Also why does the breeder want the pups to leave at 6 weeks? What was her reason for breeding the parents?

They didnt state what reson she had for breading them.
Their surroundings were not dire but it did pong a litle and there were many puppies.
There was a dog basket with many pups and many adults, but the reason as to why there were so many was that they were being looked after for a freind.
Not all of the pups were for sale only two.

ok the fact there were a lot of pups and I would think with pups so young and limited immunity u wouldnt be moving them around let alone giving them to someone else to look after hmmmm maybe I'm just overly cautious now after what I've seen. You didnt say if they had any paperwork?

sorry, no they were not KC reg
ok cool sorry didnt see that, well it's up to u personally I'd ask a lot more questions first. Did she they have any pedigree's that they'd made themselves even if the pups weren't KC and what was the reason for no registration? Were they 2 pets bred together? also I know it sounds really strange but did they have both smooth and long and were all the dogs related i.e grandparents, parents, great grandparents etc

In the UK long and smooth coats cant be bred to eachother they are classed as 2 separate types. I think you are refering to head shapes the chihuahua standard is an "applehead" a very domed skull with a short nose. There is also the "deerhead" flatter skull longer nose not an official term that doesnt fit KC standards. Both my boys are "applehead" but Nemo had a shorter nose than what Stitch has. What price was she asking for the pups and were the pups long or smooth coated

Thankyou for the comment about my boys :D It took me a year to find Nemo (who sadly was killed in an accident at 15 weeks) and I waited on a list for 9 months to get Stitch. It takes a long time to find the right chihuahua but when you find the one for you then nothing else matters. I would advise against buying from a breeder unless you are 100% certain of where the pups are from. It's nice to have a breeder you can trust and go back to if there are any problems or you just need advice. I was so lucky with the breeders of both my boys, after Nemo passed I was offered another puppy with the same parentage which will be born in October yay!! I would recommend going on breeders lists myself. You have the pup for over 15 years usually whats a wait for the right puppy :) are you looking for smooth coat or long coat??

Thanks for all of the useful info you have been very helpful. I think I will continue my search and if you hear of ne kc reg puppies please let me know.
I do have a budget of around £700 but will consider travelling within reason.
