Hi,

A question for you breeders out there...Obviously a single puppy will weigh more at birth than a puppy from a litter of say four to six because they have had more room to grow and would have received all of his/her mother's nutrition throughout the pregnancy.

What I would like to ask is what was the average weight of your puppies at birth when part of a litter of four or more pups?

I am curious because I am on the waiting list from a breeder whose chihuahua is expecting at least four puppies (four were seen on the scan but there could be more) and I was wondering how much my baby to be might weigh at birth? Mum looks around 4.5 lb and dad a little smaller.

Thank you in advance :daisy:

I am not a breeder, but may be someday, so I have done some research. 4 oz is about average for a Chi puppy at birth. I have seen anywhere from 2.5 to 6 oz, though.
