What can I do with Honey, while she still has 4 1/2 weeks before she can go out for walks after her vaccinations, to wear her out? We play fetch indoors and I'm teaching her sit. The weather is still horrible at the minute and I'm waiting for her hoodies to be delivered so it really has to be indoors.

I used to hide treats ,so that got her brain working, have you got a kong ?you put treats inside and they move it along the floor trying to get them out, when my Sheltie had a bad paw and couldn't go out he spent ages with his kong.

I have got a kong it is a puppy one, it was Patch's but he prefers his busy buddy. Trouble is Honey isn't very bothered about food it's a struggle just to get her to eat so far! I will give it a go though x

We have a kong for Toby. He wasn't bothered very much by food so we smear a little Vegemite on it. I am not sure if you can get Vegemite in the UK but i am sure there is something like that over there

There most likely is something over in the UK that is like Vegemite. It is like a spread that most Aussies have on toast and things like that. It is .........how shall i put this............ an acquired taste....lol.

Can you play hide & seek with her? If she's toy driven get a favorite toy and hide it under bowls, when she picks the right bowl make a huge fuss over her...stuff like that:)

vegemite is marmite in the uk!!!!!

Stick a sock on her to keep her warm!!! just cut two little wholes for her feet and get her out in the garden to run around!! I've been doing that for the last 3 weeks.. also go to the 99p shop and get a back of cats toys as there are loads of little chew things in there and balls they can chase around your house.. Remember the size of your living room is probably like a football pitch to her!!!

Lots of playing is a good start, i'm sure she could play all day if you let her. Play different games with her, like fetch, tug of war (always make sure you win so she sees you as boss) You could get her some puppy kongs and put some nice treats in for her to get out, or buy some puzzle toys if you can find any that will keep her occupied and stimulate her mentally as well as physically. You could start training for 5 mins just teaching her to sit and other basic commands though keep sessions short as she won't have a big attention span just yet and make it fun, end with lots of praise or a favorite toy or a treat.

If she chases lights buy a small laser light and watch her shoot around the room. Buy her a cat toy on string for her to chase or a feather cat tickle stick she may enjoy. The possibilities really are endless.

You could always get another chi for a playmate :)

Take her on outing with you, wrap her in a blankey or in your coat to keep her warm and get her used to the outside world, this will prepare her for when she can walk and will get her used to alot of thing and noises/smells etc. Can also be a great way getting her socialised and used to people as no doubt people will stop and talk to you when you've got such a cutie with you x
