My puppy is almost 8 weeks old. He has developed a stye on his right eye. Should I be concerned? Is this something I should run to the vet for? Or will it run it's course and resolve on it's own?

I'd check with the vet myself. Just because it IS an eye! If you don't want to do that, then I'd put warm packs on it. Problem is, you want it very warm, but not enough to burn him. That's why I'd go to the vet.

Thank you for your help! I made an appointment for the next day but the eye looked so much better, I was able to cancel it. It looks completely healed today so I guess I got lucky this go round. With my puppy being so young, I am glad I was able to avoid the trip and potential exposure that you can't avoid when going to the vet. Thanks again!

When I go to the vet with my chi's, I use a carrier, and they don't get out of it, until they are in the exam room with the vet. They are very good about spraying the table down before I let them out. Any dog with parvo, they shut that room down until it is disinfected. I have never had any bad experience with the dogs 'catching' anything there. The only 'bad' experience was when I let the vet give my 'new' ( (rescue) chihuahua a kennel cough vaccination before we went to doggie camp in Vermont. Poor dog GOT kennel cough from the vaccine, and had to be isolated from all the other dogs. My other dog that was with her, never got it!!

Just to update regarding my little guy, just when I thought we were in the clear, he developed a second stye so I took him straight to the vet. He now has eye wipes, Clavamox and ointment for his affected eye. We are going to give it a week and hope it clears up. If not, back to the vet!
