I ordered samples to try for my baby but sadly I think I didn't add enough water....can anyone take a picture of the food after you added water and let it sit for a bit. I'm not sure how watery its suppose to be ....

Theres some room for you to adjust the water a bit to your/your dogs preference. I make it to the consistency of oatmeal, but you can have it soupier too. It takes a little experimenting to find what ratio you like best, I do a 1:1 water to dry THK. Follow the prep directions and adjust to get the consistency you like.

I know there are pictures on here somewhere that huskyluv posted...I can't seem to find them though...but when she sees this post I'm sure she will post them again for you.

It should have a stuffing-like consistency.

It can be as soupy or thick as your want it to be, I would start out with less water and keep adding if it to your (or your dogs) desired consistency. Most often a 1:1 ratio is a good starting point and you can adjust more or less as needed.

I've posted pics before showing 4 different formulas, all of them are the exact same amounts of Honest Kitchen (1/4 cup dry) mixed with the same amounts of water (1/4 cup). As you'll see some of them thickened up more than others so it's really trial and error finding the exact amount that works for you with each formula. After you feed HK for a while you get the hang of it pretty quickly. I don't even measure water anymore, I just add until I get the consistency that I want. ;)

Anyway, I'll copy and paste the pics I've posted before:

"If you're curious how THK looks before, during and after hydration, here are some pics I've taken in the past of a few different formulas...

*For the above photos I did a 1:1 ratio of 1/4 cup HK to 1/4 cup warm water.

I do different formula to water ratios depending on the formula I am feeding. For example, with Keen and Preference I do a 1:1.5 ratio of THK:water. With Verve, Embark, and Thrive I do a 1:1 ratio. With Zeal and Force I do a 1:1.25 ratio."

I will make up a batch of Verve and Zeal tonight and take pics to post so you folks can see how they compare to the rest. I will do the same amounts as before 1/4 cup of HK and 1/4 water, and will post results later. :)

Nice Val. :) The Zeal consistency always throws me. I find it doesn't hydrate as well as the others. I tend to add less water to it.

I find Zeal to be a lot like Preference in consistency and water requirement. Zeal takes more water than Embark, Thrive, and Verve for me. Typically I'd do a 1:1.25 ratio of Zeal to water.

Tonight I took the following pics of Verve and Zeal. I mixed 1/4 cup of dry Verve with 1/4 cup of warm water; I also mixed 1/4 cup of dry Zeal with 1/4 cup of warm water. You can compare them with the others and see how the consistencies differ with the different formulas.

That's interesting. For some reason when I add the usual 1:1 water/food ratio for the zeal it's still liquid-y for me after 10 minutes. Maybe I'm adding more water then I realize. (I don't measure)
