I think so too but I'm not positive. :)

I asked in your newbie introduction, is Gadget a brindle long hair? It's sorta hard to see from the pic. He is such a doll! Also, do you have any more pics of him? We are all picture crazy around here.
In England this isnt really possible - But I suppose in America ewhere they are the same breed and therefore bred with each other if there grandparents were long haired you could get pups with longhair
I was told that 2 long hairs always produce long haird pups.
2 short hairs can have a long haired pup in the litter, but usually most of the pups are short haired.
Thank you all for your input.

I have lots of pictures of Gadget... I have my camera ready to go all the time....

I will post some pics in the picture forum.
Yes it can happen in Uk and USA,although longcoats can only mate with longcoats in UK and smooth with smooth, you can get genes from great grandparents etc like a throwback, though not a nice name. My Sullys grandparents are both smoothcoats and her parents are both longcoats she has a long coat of sorts but it isnt as long as some i have seen, so i dont know what coat her pups would have if she ever had any.I did explain this once before as jonny might get his great grandfathers thick wild red hair and big nose while all other siblings are smooth shiney blonde hair with cute button nose, you never can tell which genes are the strongest, you can just hope. :D

This is true!! :D

As far as coats go smooth coats are dominate over long coat. The dog can either be pure longcoat, pure smooth coat, or smooth the is carrying the long coat gene as a recessive. So what this means is long bred to long will give you long, pure smooth bred should always give you smooth unless they are carrying the long coat recessive gene.

A smooth coat bred to long a long coat or two smooth coats that are carrying the recessive gene may give you either coat This lies in the fact that the long coat gene may hidden in the smooth coat dog. I hope this helped :D
