After our little hiccup, Mimi is now doing fine on chicken and I am transitioning her into RED Meat.

My question is this, keeping your diet at 50% Red Meat, can you give me examples/suggestions of red meat that you are feeding ?

Do you continue to use cornish hens for bone ?

Yes, I use cornish hen mainly for the bone content. About every 3rd day to keep bone at about 10% of the diet. Some dogs need more bone. If stools get loose, add more bone. If they are chalky or whitish or very firm, then add more meat.

For red meat .... beef, pork, bison, venison, goat, lamb. I do mainly beef and pork as it's easy to find. I use bison when I can get it. I can get venison hearts free from a hunter friend of ours. I haven't tried goat yet but would if I could find it. Lamb is occasional if I find a good deal.

We do exactly what brodysmom has said as far as bone. When I first started red meat I bought whatever boneless beef was on sale at the supermarket. Now I get cheap beef hearts from a rancher, so I feed a lot of those, along with goat, venison (when I get free scraps) and buffalo from time to time. I also get other cuts of beef muscle meat that I feed pretty regularly.

We don't feed much pork because I feel bad for pigs and only buy pastured stuff that is a little too expensive to give the dogs, but it is a good red meat that can be found cheaply at the supermarket. Despite branding it as "the other white meat" it is in fact red meat.

Mimi had a lamb chop tonight!

I think I've been doing something wrong, before I was cutting the meat
up for her into smaller pieces for her to chew on and eventually gulp down.

Tonight I just gave her the meat in one piece. It took her longer to chew it
and shred off pieces, but I think that she really needs the chewing.
( She did not eat the bone from the chop )

My vet said there were no problems with her dental on our last exam,
but her breath has smelled like a sewer ever since we got her, sometimes
worse than others but overall bad! So I'm hoping the more chewing...
the more improvement we notice!

I didn't know pork was considered red meat... don't they call it "the other white meat"?! lol

For bone content our doggies get chicken necks. For their red meat we usually feed beef heart.

Mimi has finally cleaned a bone!

She wasn't too excited yesterday to see her food not all nicely
chopped for her and would only try to tear meat off the bone
if I was holding the bone for her. Other than small chicken or
hen bones that she can smash and gulp down, she hasn't really
spent anytime chewing or "cleaning" bones.

When I got her I was told that the people keeping her caged
were feeding her ONLY "Old Roy Kibble". Now she is fully transitioned
to Raw food and little by little I can see her little spirit coming
to life....and I can't believe how proud I am that she finally cleaned
a bone!
