My six year old Riley has been dealing with elevated liver enzymes since February 2020. He was put on Royal Canin, Denamarin and has been on Ursodoil since September.

His enzymes have not returned to normal. Has anyone experienced elevated liver enzymes with their chihuahua? I will be taking Riley to the Specialist on Wednesday for a recheck. I’ve considered a homemade diet however I’m not sure if that is the best option for him.

He started losing his hair on the back of his ears the end of August, it’s not growing back which is very frustrating because no one has an explanation for this.

If anyone has experienced liver disease with their chihuahua I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I’m so sorry. My Smoke had elevated liver enzymes from being poisoned from snail killer. I had him on the Sciece Diet for elevated liver and it really helped him. You may be dealing with a liver shunt, the only option may be surgery. I’m not sure why his hair would be lost, though.
