I am thinking of switiching Gizmo to Royal Canin Chihuahua at the recomended 8 months...

I also saw they have it for poodles...and it seems to have all the stuff needed for senior poodles...my Joey's eyes are really opaque...he doesn't have cararacts but he can't see well.....anyhow it seems to fit his needs well...anyone have a Poodle or know of anyone who has tried it?

Also Royal Canin for Chi's...it says nothing of helping their coat...Giz has dry skin...has it helped for any of your babies skin and coat? He loves science diet puppy...but I don't think it's doing much for his skin...I have to supplement with Linatone plus...that's how his hair has grown in again...

I am so happy to see that so many pups are doing well with RC. I had just bought some and am beginning to switch Angel from Science Diet to RC puppy. I plan to switch her to the Chi formula in a couple of months.

The only bad thing here is that where we are, there are no major pet stores nearby so I have to order it online. Not a big deal except I have to pick it up at the post office. LOL

Does anyone know if RC makes treats too?

There are no RC treats in the uk , not sure about other places .....
I haven't seen RC treats at any of the petsmarts and petcos around my area. I haven't even seen if they have wet food.
Okie dokie... thanks. :) I couldn't find any personally but wondered if maybe there were some in other areas. Ah well... Was worth a shot. :)
I looked at the website and they have no treats...

That would be great if they did...like puppy biscuits....

Chimommy- I haven't made the switch yet to RC....let me know how your pup likes it since your switching from Science Diet too...Gizmo picks at it... Although lately I have been putting it in his Kong and he eats it that way....they are strange aren't they? :D
I would love it if they would make some sort of puppy bisquit. Ah well... maybe someday they will.

They are finicky little things, that's for sure. So far so good with Angel. Her meals still consist of mostly Science Diet still of course but she is eating it. I gave her a few pieces as "treats" first and it took her awhile to actually consume it. She just kind of mouthed at it a little. I will definitely let you know how she does when she is completely switched over. :)
Mine were all switched from Science Diet to RC. I tried to do it gradually but they only ate the RC and left the Science Diet. :D I ended up just doing a complete switch since they wouldn't eat the Science Diet anyway. There were no tummy upsets.
LOL Angel gets like that too. When she was weaned, she was put on Pedigree . When I brought her home, I couldn't get her to eat it so I took the vet up on a free bag of Science Diet. She loved it, although more recently she has been sort of picking at it. But I have never been a big fan of the brand so I have been wanting to switch to something else. Now that I have the RC mixed in, she is eating like a pig so I really have to monitor it all. :D It is looking like the RC will work out just fine. ;)

Nutro make a good mini puppy treat biscuit :)

Jasmine eats the RC puppy food now - as soon as this bag is finished, I'll switch her as she is over 9 months now.

However, I may have to switch from RC - I've been unable to find a pet store anywhere close to me that carries RC. I bought what I have now at Petsmart in Orlando, but that is almost an hour drive. I may be able to order online, haven't checked that yet.

Does anyone feed Wellness, and if so, how do you like it? I can get Wellness at our local Petsupermarket here.
I just switched Punky to Wellness this week (after exhaustive research)and she loves it. I bought the Chicken supermix. I had a long chat with the owner of the store. He said the best food on the market at this time is; Innova. I can't get it in Puerto Rico but I wish I could. For now I'll stick with Wellness. He will only sell Wellness and Innova. Wellness makes lots of biscuits and snacks as well.
I think Innova is a pretty good food, but the problem I had is that the adult food was too large for them. I had to bang on it with a hammer to break up the pieces or they wouldn't eat it.
So I switched to Royal Canin Chihuahua.
All three of mine are eating the "Royal Canin Adult 27" for small breeds. It is tiny and in the shape of little stars. They seem to love it! I like it better than the "Chi formula" . It is easier to find, and a much better value at 12.00 for 8lbs. The Chi formula had gone up to 13.00 for 3lbs!!
Ok...I did it....I bought Gizmo the RC mini Puppy...and

He likes it!!!....he is still not eating like he used to, but he ate the whole bowl....and was licking his chops...hehehe

So....this is a good thing...as mommy can now have peace of mind that her baby is eating again...

Yay for Royal Canin!!!
I was looking at the prices just this morning. YIKES!!! I was just now comparing the ingredients in the chi formula vs the mini adult and saw that the mini adult has far less corn. That's a good thing isn't it? I always heard that too much corn was a bad thing. I will definitely keep the mini adult in mind when it comes time to switch formulas, thanks!
