Hi guys!

I just phoned my vets to ask if they stock Royal Canin puppy. They told me that they stock the Royal Canin puppy Hills brand which is the same as Science Plan which is exactly what I am trying to avoid!?? Now I'm really confused!! Basically they said Royal Canin was the Hills brand which is also Science Plan!! Huh!? :? :?
Anyone know what they are talking about!?

thanks

We just switched from Science Diet to RC. It isn't the same thing as far as I know. I just looked at the bag and saw no reference to Hill's on there. I have no idea what they're talking about. :?
i didnt think that royal canin was hills......... i'm actually pretty sure that it isnt. but you are right-- hills IS science diet.
We just switched from Science Diet to RC.
Just wondered why you changed from Science Diet? Do you think its better quality for our babies? If so I will change too as Lola is on the Science Diet but she's not too keen on it..... she'll only eat it if she has to and recently someone told me it wasn't good for them anyway!! :? I'd prefer a completely natural diet.... does Royal Canin come under this category do you know?

Thanks loads

I don't think the regular Royal Canin is in the "all natural" catagory but I believe they do make an all natural food.
Their website is under construction right now, so I couldn't find the what the natural food is called.
science diet

I am not sure about the royal canin but I have heard bad things about science diet and all the chemicals can be bad on there little digestive systems. It was to strong for my little chi baby and his little stomach stayed tore up until I took him off. I am trying Nutro natural ultra right now.
I switched for the same reason Yoshismom mentioned. I don't know for certain that Science Diet is bad for them or not... just have heard bad things. Plus I understood that too much corn in the diet is bad for them. RC has a lot less corn so I decided to give it a try. :)
We feed RC Chihuahua 28. Hill's has alot of unnecessary fillers and byproducts. Here is a link to the RC website.

Thank guys.... I'll have a look where I can buy it here. Hopefully I can get the Puppy 33™ Formula! :)

Love Lucie & Lola
i feed my babies the royal canin mini pup i get it from either pets mart or there is a garden centre by me called ansell they always have it and real cheap!!! its normally around £10 a bag i went there once and they were doing a reduced price to £7 and buy ne get one free so i got stocked up im only just running low
RC is not made by Hill and has nothing to do with Science Diet. I suspect whoever you talked to at the vets office isn't familiar with RC.

I was just about to say the same .

Royal Canin is a food I do trust :) & I feed it to my boy :D

( shame the Royal Canin 'Chi food' is not avaliable in the UK  )
We used the RC puppy 33 formula while the boys where younger. They loved it. We bought it at petsmart and now we get the 28 at our local feed store. You can't go wrong with it!
 I feed my puppy chi nutro ultra it is great especially for dogs with allergies and my adult chi also she loves the taste and is pretty picky i usually mix hers with Natural Balance since she enjoys variety in her diet.
The RC UK website is still offline for upgrading!! I want to find my nearest stockist!
So does that mean I will be able to get the RC Puppy 33™ Formula here? Just not the Chi food one?!

Thanks

hhhmmm, maybe i read your post wring, but it sounds to me like your vet is trying to sell you Science Diet by telling you it's the same as Royal Canin. (if i'm wrong, plz correct me, thats just how i interpreted your post) but Royal Canin is certainly in no way, shape, or form associated with Hills Science Diet.
Well I think its possible they were trying to sell me the Hills instead but the receptionists notoriously don't have a clue what they are talking about and if they thought by saying they had 'Hills Royal Canin' could fool me they were wrong!! :D I'm not that stupid!!

ok...good. i just wouldn't want to see a fellow chi person get taken advantage of :)
i ordered royal canine sensible small bite from the pet shop as i was told by some chi breeders it was good for fussy eaters. the pet shop told me they dont come in a puppy variety-im not sure if he just meant the 'sensible' one or all royal canine. lillo eats chichen flavoured neutro puppy food right now-but he'll only eat it if he's really hungry and only by hand one ball at a time which takes hours! he much prefers roast chicken but i know theyre not supposed to eat only meat.
