I was walking my pups in the park with my hubby yesterday when we saw two huge dogs (Ridgeback looking, not quite sure what they were) with a group of 20 or more people who were having a barbeque in the park. When we passed again on our way home a man from the group was beating one of the dogs, he was hitting it so hard the blows echoed through the park and the dog howled with every blow (at least 6) - it made my husband and I feel sick. The other dog cowered the whole time and when the man stopped the poor dog just stayed cowering on the spot. We felt so awful not doing anything but with a group of 20 people that would have just been stupid. The rest of the people didn't seem to bat an eyelid. I just don't understand this type of behaviour. People like this obviously don't love animals so why own a dog? I don't even know what I can do about it, I don't know where they live so I can't report them to the RSPCA but I feel bad for the poor dogs so I want to do something
