Lola has really bad environmental allergies, I thought they were food initially but after trying every food out there, she still itches!! And they get worse at the exact same time as Bryan's (like father, like daughter, lol) do. So I started her on a prednisone taper regimen and gave her a bath with oatmeal shampoo. Is anyone else's chi having allergies already?? I feel so bad for Lola, she's an itchy mess! Hopefully the pred kicks in ASAP!

My chi suffers all year long! She also has severe environmental allergies & right now she can't stop rubbing her eyes & her belly & legs are getting all scratched up. I've been giving her Benedryl in the evening & Zirtec in the morning, but it doesn't help enough.

I'll have to check that out! I used to put fish oil in their food but it made Lola throw up multiple times per day. I actually wasn't sure what was making her vomit until we stopped using it and she completely stopped throwing up. She has a really sensitive stomach and allergies....poor Lola!

and if he's not allergic to fish...try salmon oil in combination with the coconut oil..not everyday of course..I'd rotate them..also, I posted a thread about "skin and coat tonic" which claimed to be a natural relief remedy for itchy dogs. I'm considering it.. Miya is very itchy too. I don't like bathing her often, but every week to 2 weeks, she gets wet down with her happy tails conditioner..no shampoo, just conditioner. That seems to help. Dang seasonal allergies!

We took Missy to a dermatology specialist. She said I could give Missy,A half of the generic chlotrimeton, twice a day.She was on temeril p BUT it was actually peeling the layers of skin off her body!!Also ,I dont know what detergents you use but she also suggested we use cheer free.and we are using a human eye drop, twice a day,and it has worked excellent! We are giving her salmon oil once a day, washing her with a special shampoo and conditioner that the dermatologist supplied and last putting a type of oil drop on different parts of her body. Her legs lost a good bit of hair and missy was chewing these places a good bit.Specialist said those areas are from mold and pollen allergies. It's been 3 wks since missy has been ,shes ALOT better but has a long way to go.She's still itching,BUT her skin was so bad ,I knew the healing would take a LONG time.
