I have been searching for a short haired chi for a very long time now and have recently found an add for a breeder who is prepared to ship the pup from Cameroon to the UK. Unsure what I think about this? Any comments?

I dont know how long a flight that is living in the USA but you want to watch out for delays in flights etc etc . Short flights say under 4 hours are ok, sometimes you can pay a little extra and have a stewardess who is off duty sit with the pup inside.
Also is Cameroon on the list of approved countries so the baby wouldn't have to spend the mandatory 6 months in quarantine?
Hello, I saw this ad too and was quite interested but I thought it was a bit suspicious that they are selling lots of puppies of different months of age. They are selling a lot, and some adults if I remember right.
I have no idea if the pup would need to spend time in quarantine from Cameroun or not.
Hi I have been researching every options to find small short coated chi pup for a while. I have encountered the advert from UK Classfied concerning chi sale from Camaroon. With my desperation to get the puppy of my dream, I felt very tempted to take up his offer but I strongly feel he is a con man as I've spoke to few other chi breeders who does international delivery from Belgium and USA. The shipping procedure is very complex as it require you to hire an agent and legal requirement for non-EU countries further complicates the issue. The guy from Camaroon states he will deliver the pup in 2 days which is 100% impossible as non-EU nation have to register and detain the dog for at least 290 days and ignoring having an agent requirement for sale makes it impossible for the pup to get delivered anyhow.
I strongly recommend you to talk to the airline or look into it further @ UK customs website. After all I don't believe he has any pups and requiring us to fully pay the amount before delivery (without any gurantee) only shows his intention to take advantage of people like us.. Please do be careful..

Thanks to all who replied. You are all correct. I am quite sure it is a con. I am just so desperate for a chi now that I wanted to believe it was possible. I have added my name to one of the waiting lists of the registered breeders posted on here so fingers crossed I get one soon!
I seem to remember there being someone who asked about this once before on CD with chi's in Cameroon and apparently found out it was a scam
NEVER EVER send money to anyone advertising from cameroon, these people ARE SCAM ARTISTS and have been pulling everythign from puppies, exotic breed cats to monkeys and others too. most adverts from cameroon are also from the same company and anyone haivng sucess with these poeple is either one of their us agents/brokers, or has a puppymill puppy in their homes...dont support these poeple, belive me, the right one will come along wihtout that risk.
shipping puppies can be perfectly safe, but rember, the uk and some us states (hawaii) have quarrentien laws with pasports to avoid the 6 month quarrentein.
and a flight that long... NOT good for a puppy (anything over 10 hrs is NOT suggested in cargo and can kill a puppy, also remeber that chis are very delicate, so anyone telling you they can ship your baby chi via plain to you at 8 weeks is lying through their teeth or doesnt know what there doing...

hope this helps, have faith, i know its hard, but the right chi will come along...and youll know it!

when i was desperatley searching for my girls i got offered one from brazil for $285 that included shipping and a a akc registered pup to good to be true i think
dont do it!

shipping a puppy from cameroon is a definate scam! ive almost been scammed by a few people like this and ive reprted them all! they even pretend to be in the uk and offer to ship puppies, if they ask for upfront payment via western union or moneygram then tell them where to go.
Thats so true and their are loads of scammer out there waiting for deperate people wanting a CHI asap.

Do a search for breeders and get your name down on a waiting list, do loads of research on the breed whilst your waiting. The right pup will come along. I lost my 1st chihuahua last July 2006, I didnt find another one until Jan 2007, then along came 2 at almost the same time............I collect my smoothcoat in 2-3 weeks time and cannot wait.

But please, if its too good to be true then its a scam and dont ever send your hard earned cash to someone who hasnt even let you visit the puppies because they arent in this country! At the moment their is a scam going, which I queried with this so called seller.....A litter of chihuahua pups for sale in my hometown. I emailed the seller as when you clicked the link for a map it showed a street in the city centre, 8 miles from where the location was supposed to be and 2 streets away from my office block which isnt a residential area. I smelt a rat and asked where in my hometown he lived. His reply was " sorry we're in Plymouth, my wife advertised the pups " I left it at that because I knew it was a load of lies..........Plymouth is a 5-6 hour drive away from the area where the pups where advertised as being at, and the partial postcode given for the map link was 8 miles away and near my work!

I emailed him back and told him he was a SCAMMER and guess what, he went onto his advertisement and amended the area to not show up but forgot to amend the postcode! I reported it as a scam to the webiste but guess what ? The seller still to this day is advertising pups for sale when their isnt ANY

BEWARE UK PEOPLE..........!!!

Just noticed the start of this thread is 2 years old......but Definately a con, this is one email i received today.

Hi,
thanks for writing. brandon is available. He is 21weeks 3 days old
today. He is shortcoated cream white teacup puppy, has a good
temperament and well socialised with children and with pets too. I
bought this puppy from Hillcrest Puppy Shop, Antrim in Northern
Ireland. Presently i'm in Cameroon with the puppy and he is under the
care of the veterinary service in Douala and they are taking good
care. Because of my job i'm not able to take good care over him so i
just need to let go to someone who will be there for him . I'm also
afraid that keeping him under the care of the veterinary service is
costly as I'll have to pay them to look over him. If u're
interested,i can arrange for him to be transported to you but I'll
only do if u're within the UK. cost of adoption plus transportation
is £300. I look forward to hearing from you and to know your
intentions.
thanks
larry.
