Every single night once it's time for bed, I start preparing the bed for hubby...
yet a gang of crazy dogs take over, and NO ONE gets any rest until the madness is over...
It used to be just the wild Basenji brothers, but now little Chanel has crossed over to their side!
She is no longer my little lady, she is a lean, mean, fighting machine!
Ok, so she's not really "lean", she's more of a chunky monkey, but you get the point! LOL

This goes on for about 45 minutes! The boys get 6-8 hours of walks/runs per day! And baby Chanel gets 3.5 and up.
Plus they play at home oh so much...yet something about clean cozy sheets just gets them all going, even though they should be passed out by then!

Oh how I love my gang!
Enjoy my bad quality pictures, lol, and do not worry, papa was sitting on the floor, right next to the bed, making sure his precious baby girl Chanel doesn't fall.

Hey! Chanel here!

Yup, these are my cool big bros!

Hey guys how you doing?!

I wanna get involved in this!!!

Come on guys, let me play!

Oh yeah, lets kick Rocky's butt!

Hmm...I don't think you heard me Benji, I said lets kick "Rocky's butt"...not mine...

That's better! I'll pin him down, you bite!

Get him good!

Ok mom, I'm pooped! You can give me my goodnight kisses now!

I don't sleep much either, usually about 2-3 hours per night.
I've got permanent black circles under my eyes :(

Ohh lucky, you get to sleep in, huh?!
I'm up at 4am with hubby :( ...oh so so early!
And fur babies aren't keeping me company, Rocky and Benji sleep on their couch(yes COUCH, they have their own, lol) in the other room,
and Chanel sleeps in her doggy bed in the bedroom. While I'm in the living room all by my lonesome, working on the computer and browsing Chi People, lol.

Oh yes Rocky and Benji LOVE their couch, the Basenji breed loves heights, so they don't really use their doggy beds.
Your guys are so sweet, keeping you company! My crew is like that too, too much even, to the point where I have to put
them in the room with hubby at night so I could do my work on the computer. Otherwise it's cuddles and rubs all night long, lol.
Chanel is funny, she climbs up and lies under my chin while I'm on the computer, and falls asleep, every single night, so I carry her
to her little pink polka dot bed, lol, such a princess!
During the day it's hilarious, I can't even use the bathroom in peace, all three follow me every time, and give me that "You are coming back, right mom?!" look. LOL ;)

How cute! I grew up with a Basenji. Jodi was quite a dog, very smart and very grumpy. lol I would love to get another some day. Jodi had a high prey instinct, I would be afraid to have a Basenji around my little dogs. I have heard that the more modern Basenjis are better bred to be better family dogs. But having known him, I would still be nervous.

My dogs, as soon as I turn off the computer and let them out to pee, think its play time. They come in and play tug-a-war, and wrestle and it's time for zoomies and eating. And sometimes it takes a while for them to settle once they are in bed.

Oh wow Pam, so you are familiar with this oh so naughty breed?! LOL
You are right they are real hunters. It took A LOT of work with Rocky & Benji,
but even now a days they still at times need to be reminded to relax, that
Chanel is not food! Hubby & I are involved with rescuing, so many dogs and
cats found refuge in our home. That has helped tremendously in teaching my
boys. I definitely don't recommend this wild, crazy breed to novice owners.
They need an experienced, active and very patient owner. They need to be
constantly reminded of things, they are like eternal puppies. And are too smart
for their own good. Their wild nature is why we give them so much exercise,
they get up at 4am with hubby for their morning hike before work, then he
comes home for lunch to walk them, then after work and then again before bed.
As you probably know, they will get destructive and miserable if not exercised
sufficiently. I love difficult breeds, and wouldn't trade them for the world. They
also are very loving animals, they are aloof with strangers, but so loyal and
affectionate towards their owners. Chanel is crazy about them, she watches
their every step, follows them closely, and lives for their attention. Since she
joined our family, both the boys started acting like little puppies again, play
time all day loooong! They get along great, I can't shut up about how well
they all play, hubby is tired of hearing about it,lol! But it's very impressive to me
since Basenjis usually prefer their own kind, even the way they play is so
different from other breeds. With my Pom that passed, the boys didn't play
much, she kind of kept to herself, they were too crazy for her, she'd get
annoyed quickly. I'm just happy they took Chanel under their wing.

How many pups do you have Pam?
I love your siggy, your dogs are beautiful, but I can't tell if they are all different Chis or not.

Yeah, I know them well. We got Jodi in the 1960's. The first time he met Buckley Beagle, he ran over and bit him. And Buckley was only 8 weeks old. He grew to tolerate him, but not always. He did love Cindy, though.

I have 9 chis and one chi/corgi mix and one what may be a Rat Terrier. All are rescues except Billy, I bought him from a breeder selling off her dogs. Some were strays, some from the pound, some given to me because they knew I took in special needs chis.

tooo cute! i wanted a basenji before. they get bigger right? LOL :p chanel is so fluffy wuffy and full of spunk!

Thanks! :)
No they do not get bigger, my boys are 27 lbs each, and they will be 3 years old this December.
The females are even smaller, usually around 24 lbs. But don't let their small size fool you, they are trouble!;)

Aww good for you for taking in Chis in need! That's wonderful! :)
The world is a better place thanks to you. I wish more people cared this much.
