I was on Kijiji and this caught my eye


Hi im putting my dobe up for sale he is two years old and not altered! He is a proven performer! And I guarantee you won't find a better looking boy, he would make an excellent working dog and is a high energy and high prey drive dog.he was a stud dog before I bought him but I didn't buy his papers..I can however give you the info to buy them if interested...anyways he's a good dog but has his quirks....he does not like most male dogs , and he is a bit clumsy around small children, i'm selling him for no less than 400$ but what I really want is a male mastiff breed dog as trade...my dog will not just go to anyone it will be to a great and responsible home! He is a excellent guard and family dog ..just very high energy..so if you are looking for a great companion please let me know ....ill send pics and set up a time to meet...if you have a pup that you would like to trade please send pics to me...thanks

I flag these types of ads on Kijiji all the time, they stay up for weeks after anyways, it's sad.
I e-mail these ignorant idiots at times too, with polite yet educational letters, they don't care.

I see stuff like that all the time. I just don't get what they're thinking... what's the point in trading dogs?! If you can't take care of one why would you get another?? Because it's not that they can't take care of them, it's because they're bored with them and they just want another new 'toy' to play with. Sickening.

Kijiji is similar to Craigslist, but larger, and dog sales are allowed. They used to have the US Kijiji, but they shut it down I think because ebay bought it, don't remember 100%.

Can't someone create and enforce rules to protect these poor pets!!! There are probably some laws already in place. It's the enforcing of most laws that is the problem.

Some people think of them as disposable. My daughter-in-law and son adopted a second dog (doberman mix). The dog had been cured of heartworm, but they didn't know she had a small problem with urine leaking while lying down. But, my daughter-in-law said it was just something she had to deal with. And now, a year later, she doesn't do it much. Someone else would have probably given the dog back! Once you buy or adopt, they become part of the family, I don't know how they couldn't become part of the family! So if those people have a daughter and decide they really want a son, they will trade???

I'm so glad cropping and docking are both illegal here in Australia!!! This sounds like just the sort of person who would inflict such torture on a dog just for looks, and then discard it like a piece of trash just because it is "high energy" and "has his quirks". If you're not happy with the looks of a dog as nature intended and you don't know how to cope with its energy levels then don't get that breed of dog (or preferably a dog at all) - simple!

I know I would like your daughter-in-law. She sounds like my kind of people. Has she ever discussed the leakage problem with a vet? There is a medication which can tighten the sphinter muscle responsible for holding the urine in. I do not know the side effects or cost but it might be worth looking into.
