My 2 have done this a few times - sometimes they see shadows or hear things we cant hear or see
 Oh my gosh!! You know my poodle when he was younger (he can't hear so well nowchimom said:Jasmine has done that a time or two. The last time, about a week ago, she woke me from a sound sleep at 2 a.m., barking furiously. Usually when she barks, it's only one or two - woof, woof, and I tell her that's enough, and she normally will stop. But that night, she kept barking, growling, and the fur on her neck was standing up. She kept jumping off the bed, running into the living room, and back. She did this several times - I got up, turned on front and back porch lights, but could see nothing. It took me over half an hour to calm her down - frankly, it was a little scary to me. If she were a constant barker, I would have thought nothing of it, but she isn't.
She went back to sleep about a half hour later. Mommy was awake till almost 4 a.m. LOL

She went back to sleep about a half hour later. Mommy was awake till almost 4 a.m. LOL) He barely barked, one night I was home alone I think I was about 17 or so...anyway...it was around 3 am and he bolted straight up from a dead sleep growling, and then it turned to barking....I tried to shush him but he kept going and I was freaking out...so I follow him into the living room and he goes to the sliding glass door...and kept barking...all of a sudden the motion lights go on...and I quickly peeped through the blinds and their was somebody running off into the bushes!!! I called the police etc. they never found out who it was or what they were doing...but who knows what could've happened if Joey hadn't barked the person away...
Gizmo doesn't bark...LOL...My hubby sneaked in yesterday and Gizmo didn't even whine...I was like geee thanks Gizzie...I feel so protected...
