Percy got his 2nd set of the DHPP vaccine today and is now VERY sore right around the injection location. Even lightly touching the area makes him cry.

Anyone else have dogs who get sore after vaccinations?

Yes, Ashley is right. My guys get a little sore too. It's harder on the little ones.
If it lasts more than two days then I would worry, otherwise it's pretty normal.
You can call your vet and ask, just so he could reassure you. Let Percy
rest, make sure he is drinking water, if he wants to skip a meal it's ok, but
starting tomorrow afternoon you should start seeing improvement, he
should start to feel better and not be as sore. This is from my personal
experience, of course some dogs react differently. If you ever have a
concern don't be shy to call your vet. I call mine with questions often.

Thanks guys! It's only been 4 hours since the vaccine, I just like to worry. I will definitely monitor him though. He did eat a bit and played with his toy, so besides the soreness, everything seems to be going good.

Kalisee screamed in pain whenever I touched her the first few hours after that shot. She would run and hide from us. I called the vet and he told me to rub her with alchohol with some cotton on the spot (???)..something impossible to even attempt. The pain stopped on its own. By night time it had stopped and she was her old self running and playing. Now we have to do the same thing tomorrow..I cringe..

Hope your little one is all better by time you read this!

Tango seems to get sore after his shots, Jazz not so much. She just had her annual yesterday, and didn't seem bothered at all by my touching on and around the injection site. Tango however seems to flinch a bit for about 24 hours after his shot. I think it depends on the dog......and to a degree on the skill of the person injecting them.
