Stitchy Update!!

Ok well I took my little man to a different vet today I called around all in the local area and found one that has 5 chihuahua's on the books, plus when I rung up and explaned what was wrong they made him an emergency appointment and knew exactly what I was talking about.

His sample has been sent off for testing and he had a complete examination, He was given mild antibiotics, probiotics to put in his food and was wormed to kill any possible giardia and it all cost me shockingly less to  Plus he said I was completly right to get him vaccinated at 14 weeks due to his previous health and his size.

The vet thinks it's possibly he was put on too high a dose of antibiotics when he was at the breeders and it may have stripped his tummy of good bacteria so it may take a couple of weeks to get better but I took a sample for him to test and make 100% sure. He also said wean him off the lactol because thats not helping (I've already weaned him down to 1 nightly feeding now) keep him on the chicken and rice and natural yoghurt and mix the probiotics into his food. Any problems or worries call right straight away and ask to speak to him in person :) wow I was so happy a vet who actually took the time to look over my little boy and get him all checked out. Anyway I was told test results will be back in 48 hours and he'll call me with the results but thinks it's likely that he just was on too high a dose previously.

So anyway little man is asleep on my lap and I do feel so much better

Thats really good news that you got someone who can sort the poor baby and his tummy out at last. :)
ah poor baby! my breeder told me something called pro-enzyme is good and not to give lillo anti-biotics when he has a bad tummy. maybe ask your vet if it could help? lillo has a very very sensitive tummy and gets the runs and throws up very often. so i stopped giving him fresh meat altogether and he's got used to his dried food now. he also eats Ceasre which is the only tinned food he'll eat. but thats for older dogs.it seems to have worked for him, the breeder said there was too much protien in his diet. hope stitchy gets better soon, he's such a beautiful lil boy. i havent seen the new pics, where are they?

It's always great when you finally find the right vet. It took me 3 tries bit I found a great one. I even gpt my friend to switch to him too.
I knew he was the right one when he came BEFORE the visit and met Chico to make sure he was comfortable with him and Chico went right to him which he has never done with any other vet before. The vet also personally calls us after every visit, routine or not, just to check up and see how our animals are doing. I will not use anyone else.
Glad you found a new vet. Sounds like he's in good hands now.
Let us know about the test results.

aaawww, thats so great he's better. its really great you found a vet like that. vets who have experience with chi's are so hard to find sometimes.
Glad you found a vet you feel good about, and hope he continues to get better. Wishing him all the best!!
