Hi folks. Hope that the coming storm (here in IL at 8pm) won't be too bad. I realized toning that the weather channel started talking about the storm a week ago! This weekend was the anniversary of the storm of 79. My chi's don't go outside, so I don't have to worry. How about the rest of you?

It is a winter wonderland outside this am. So glad I don't have to walk the dogs. High winds etc. My brother who lives 50 miles north got 10 inches. I only got 2-3 inches. Maybe more with the 'lake effect' tonight.

Stay safe! The roads are getting scary enough in my own neck of the woods.

I'm a huge fan of puppy pad training too, even though Laurel and I are still too young to completely avoid the need for walking the dog or walking the dog owner.

Thanks for the concern. The main roads are mostly completely clear and salted. The side roads are always the last to be 'done'. My condo has snow removal, and mostly does a good job. I am on "Meals on Wheels' and had to call the board, because the man that delivers told me that the main road in the division was icy. It was salted with in a hour! I worry about salt and the dogs paws. I remember when I used to walk the dogs (in the city, years ago) I tried to get the dogs to walk on the grass. We are having really cold weather here---zero this am. Hope all of you and your dogs are warm and cozy.!

I hope people check in. I miss the way the internet used to be too.

My local dog community is probably about average and not significantly different than your average parenting community or mommywebz/doggywebz flame war. I see lots of Chis walking around, mostly oversized and mostly mixes and some of them with owners who look like they might have similar life experiences and friendly advice.

But I talk too much and about the wrong things so people don't generally like me.

No idea why their dogs do, much less why my own dog puts up with me.

Susan, I can only imagine weather like yours...so glad you and the pups are well. Here in Georgia we have just had lots of rain, wind with temps in the low 20s.

I can only remember two "real" snow episodes here in my life. Of course, they "crippled" us southerners since we are totally unprepared to handle it. lol

The only 'blessing' in this snow area is that mostly the area/s are well equipped to deal with a lot of snow. Years ago - 1979 I think, a mayor (Bilandik) lost his job because he didn't deal with a blizzard well. Most of the major roadways were impassible, and people just left their cars where they were stuck. I remember my boss telling me to catch the train home. He usually drove me. He was stuck by the museum 'campus' and had to leave his car and get the train. He caught the last train. He got home about midnight. I got home about 6pm! Glad that most of you are coping.
