This forum has grown amazingly large - which is good and bad at the same time, in my opinion - and often the same questions are being asked over and over. Maybe something could be added to the "Forum Rules" that directs newbies to do a keyword search before automatically asking a question that was probably asked yesterday, the day before, last week, etc. Maybe there could be a separate section on "Training Your Chi," which would include a sticky on tips for potty and behavior training.

I'd also like to see a section on "Other Pictures" to group all the other dog breeds, cats, fish, snakes, hamsters, etc., and even kids and other family members. I enjoy looking at pics of other breeds, other kinds of pets and peoples' kids but I'd rather not have to wade through them if I'm only interested in the chi pics at that particular time. I'd love to see those pics grouped together in their own section.

I'm looking for ways to make this increasingly busy board more manageable for the members. I'm not looking to stifle participation or posting - quite the contrary - but only to simplify things and make navigating the site a bit easier.

I hope nothing I said was offensive to anyone.

Very good idea Rachael! I don't find anything offensive about your suggestions at all. I don't post a lot, but I'm lurking almost every day and I think you're right about increasing members. I'm finding it harder and harder to just keep up with all that's going on. Anything to help organize would be a great plus IMO.

Good points Rachael.

To look at the chihuahua only pictures, they would be in Chihuahua Pictures. All other pictures belong in General Chat. If you see pictures that don't belong in the Chi area you can PM a mod and they will move it to General.

I am highly offended Just kidding  I think those are great ideas. I too seem hardly able to keep up with all the post and I guess because i have been here awhile there are a lot of them that are repeated many times. Not to be meant offensively

Coming from a very recent newby .... here are my thoughts on the board. Perhaps it will help in y'alls "control" of it. (Besides, I hope y'all have learned by now that you can't really hurt my feelings, so say whatever you think!)

This board is GREAT, but it's also a little over-whelming. I mean it took forever for me to scroll down and realize "Hey! There are a LOT more topics I can post under! WOW!"

Then I realized how hard it is to keep track of everything that goes on under each of the topics ... especially working as much as I do. But I'm addicted, so what can you do? I don't see how Coop's mom, Rachael, Kari, and many many others do it! I really feel like I'm hurting people's feelings by not posting to every post.

As for asking repetetive questions ... I know I've asked a few myself (ex: reverse sneezing) and I've probably asked a bunch I didn't know were repetitive. However, I didn't realize there was a handy-dandy search option up there that's VERY easy to use. (I used it yesterday to delete previous picture posts!) :thumbleft:

SO, what does this mean? Who the heck knows! :dontknow: I'm supposed to be an edukatedredhed, but sometimes ... ok a LOT of the time I feel like a dummy.

My only suggestion is perhaps to have either a screen pop up or an email automatically generated when someone signs up with a "message." Now, many people don't read automatically generated messages b/c of how boring the font looks and how much there is to read. So perhaps it could be in different colors and different font sizes for each item said to "catch" the users attention?

This might sound like complete nonsense to you, but that's my two cents!

One thing I just started doing a couple months ago is using the "Login/Out" feature (upper right hand corner). If you log in and out each time you visit, you can then click on "View Posts Since Last Visit." It definitely helps me figure out what I've read and what I haven't.

Also, I've stopped responding to most posts entirely. I still read about 75% of the posts but now I only respond to about 20% of those (as opposed to nearly all in the past). The board is just too big and there aren't enough hours in the day.

I'm with you Rachael! I use the "posts since last visit" feature as well and sometimes there are 10-15 pages of new posts! I too have stopped responding to questions that were asked a million times. I think I would just rather look at pictures all day! :D Cuz our chis are so darn cute!

The only way I know how is to do it when you're posting a reply. You highlight all the words that you want a different color and then pick what color. (I'm doing it as I go  ) Then if you want a different font size too, go back and highlight the same words, make sure you just get the words and not the brackets for the color.

I wonder if there is a way to make it go automatically everytime you post? :?
