I know this has been asked before. Maya has been throwing up white foam for a little while. It isn't a lot, but she can't seem to settle. I know I read somewhere that you can give them children Kaopectate! How much. When should I start worrying? I have Nutrical, but I don't want to give her any if it will make her sick.

Please help.

No one around? She stopped throwing up. She is restless though. She doesn't want any water or anything. She did take a little Nutrical from me. But there has to be something to help her feel better?

Do you think she's hungry? The chis sometimes do a small foamy throw up when they're tummy is empty. She may just need to get out whatever is upsetting her tummy though. I wouldn't worry as long as she's acting ok other than that. You could offer her a little bit of rice and boiled chicken. It's more gentle on her tummy than dog food. I hope your little one is feeling better soon!

Thanks. She is sleeping....sort of. She keeps adjusting her position every couple minutes. She is walking ok when I put her down, she just keeps her tail tucked and heads for the nearest warm lap to lay in. She hasn't been outside, and I don't think she has anything bad. I just opened a new bag of food, and she didn't eat any of it today, but she isn't showing any interest in the chicken that I offered her. I will wait and see how she is doing in the am. I think she is ok right now. There is no diarhea or anything else that I can tell.

I would make her some rice...just plain white rice and cook some plain chicken and dice it up. Mix the chicken and the rice together and give it to her. This will help her tummy settle...at least that's what the rice is suppose to do. With my chi, sometimes she gets an empty tummy and throws up bile, which is sometimes a white or yellowish tinged foamy substance. Sometimes, my chi has her "off" days and throws up like you mentioned too. I don't think it's something to be alarmed about but if it persists, I would consider taking her to the vet just to be on the safe side. If it lasts for more than a couple of days, I would maybe go to the vet. Just make sure she's getting enough to eat and drink. Maybe try giving her an ice cube to lick on. HOpe she's feeling better soon!

I am not sure, but I think she is better this morning. She was having trouble settling to sleep last night, but after about 2:30, she calmed down and stayed asleep. I took her food out of her bed last night just in case, but she did start drinking some water after I put her to bed. She was still refusing the chicken, but I will try some rice this morning and see if she wants some.

The weird thing is that she apparently was in her bed still early in the evening when she started throwing up. The only thing that was different in there was her food. I had just opened a new bag and fed her at lunch time. It didn't appear that she had eaten much, but I wonder if there was something wrong with the food in that bag? I hope not.

I will update in a while after I get the kids off to school and then see if she wants some rice to eat.

If she still won't eat, I would take her to the vet.
She might have a blockage somewhere, better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks. She did eat some scrambled egg and was barking at my husband for some of his steak! LOL....She is resting now and doesn't seem to be bad today at all. She has kept the egg down and I will give her some of the rice for lunch. I think she just got ahold of something she shouldn't have. She was running loose in my room yesterday, and she has a thing for chewing on used laundry softeners. She might have found one I missed. She wasn't alone in there very long, so she didn't get it long if that is what happened.
Thanks for all the help. I know this is a great place to post for helpful advise from fellow chi lovers. Some other people wouldn't understand the panic.

toby was throwing up a couple of weeks ago. He threw up about three or four times and I was really worried. He was fine later that day. I think maybe they just get upset tummys sometimes, and who knows why. We do worry about these little guys don't we! I am not sure which is easier raising kids or chi's.
