Hi we just picked up our tiny boy this week. He is 16 weeks and so tiny. I'm worried about everything and wonder if I made a mistake getting such a tiny one but fell in love with him. Does anyone out there have a very tiny one and any help or info. He is expected to reach 2 1/2 lbs

Make sure the wee one has enough to eat at night to prevent hypoglycemia. (low blood sugar). I would leave this in a pen with a pee pad, water and food. Then he can have kibble (make sure it is for baby pups) when he gets hungry. I had a one pound pup and we did that. She was VERY picky, and vet warned us about hypoglycemia. We also had nutri-cal around and force fed her at night, if she didn't eat. (by force fed, I mean we put a teaspoon in her mouth, and she licked if off). Didn't like it much! At 16 weeks he should be close to eating himself. Good luck. Sue

yeah tillie was the same when i got her! , she has a couple small meals a day with everything she needs so if she was not to eat so much she will still get all the nutrients :) and i dont think you made a mistake! size dosent matter really, no one bought tillie at first as she was the smallest and i ended up getting her as she was the only one left and im SOOOO glad i did! :D

Congrats! I do not see where you shared what he weighs now.

Mine are not tinies at all (they are 3.5-4.0) so I cannot help in that way. Hope was our smallest at 1.5 lbs. when we brought her home but she was younger than your baby.

I agree with the others. Feed frequent small meals. Remember every bite counts so it should be as nutritionally packed as possible. He does not need filler, he needs a great food. What will you feed?

I agree with watching sugar. Little ones can go down very quickly if you are not observant.

I also agree that we need pics!!!

Hi and welcome! I have no advice as to what to do
with tinies. My chi mix is 8 1/2 pounds ( not overweight
according to the vet) so I'm not very much help. But I do
welcome you and congratulate you on your
new pup. Can't wait to see the pics!
