Uh-oh...I think it's time to spay Chloe!

So my little Chloe is almost 7 months old I've just realized!
She hasn't gotten her first heat yet, thankfully, but I'm really scared it could be anytime soon now, am I correct? Is this the time period when I should get her spayed, before it starts? Because I know once it does, I will have to wait until it is over.

Time has gone by soo quick since I've gotten her that I didn't even think about getting her spayed. I'm only scared because she's a really tiny chi, her last vet visit she barely checked in at just over 2 pounds. I've heard all sorts of horrible things about little dogs and anesthesia and I'm soo worried! I want to take her to a very nice vet but he is really expensive and I'm just a broke student.
I know there are lots of places that do spaying for very reasonable prices but I am too scared to make any sacrifices and risk them not caring enough about such a tiny girl. Am I being overly paranoid? Any advice as to where I should take her? I wish there were special little dog vets!

yes, now is the time to do it. cancer risks drop drastically if you spay before the first heat.

i worry about chwi being so small too, she is 2.3 pounds and next month my vet wants to have it done. i'm confident with him as i've worked with him before and i also got to sit in when he was spaying my pointer.
hmm I guess I'll start calling around today, but I don't really know any vets very well. Chloe doesn't really have an assigned vet, considering she's only been when she gets her check ups, it's been a different one each time, and when she got her shots it was for all puppies, like a special vaccination day. I just want to make sure I find someone I can trust!
if you leave it till after the first heat she will have more chance of getting certain cancers tyhan if you did it now before her first heat, also it will save on the mess and hassle if you plan to do it anyway better sooner than later :D
I agree you should definitely have her spayed. But, I think you should have a vet that you trust since she is so small. Make sure that the vet has experience with small animals/chihuahuas. I don't think I would trust a vet that didn't.
Oh hey!!! You're in LA! I know of a very good hospital (the one my boyfriend works at) but it's not cheap. PM me.
