Today luna woke up vomiting. She has vomit around 6 times since the morning. I took her to her vet in the afternoon and was given some pills for upset stomach. I gave her the pill with her food. It doesn't look like the pill has helped much and she looks soo sad and I think her stomach hurt. She was fine the day before because we went to the park before the cold weather hits for sure. What can I do to help her?

Toby just went through tummy trouble, but his was diarreha not vomit. As per instructions from knowledgable people on this site, I fasted him for 12 hours. I gave him pedialyte to make sure he stayed hydrated. And I gave him probiotics. Today, he is back to himself after two days of misery.

How old is Luna?

If she is adult, you can let her fast for 12 hours, to give her tummy time to
recover. If she's not drinking water or you don't see improvement soon bring
her back to the vet. Dehydration from vomiting and/or diarrhea can be very
serous.

Lots of healing wishes!!!

Luna is 10 months. This is the first time she has been sick since I got her when she was 3 months. It breaks my heart to see her so sad. Can I still put her on the 12 hr fast even if she is 10 months?

I think it would be just fine, she's not a tiny or a young pup.
This is my opinion based on personal experience, you are the
mama, you know best. If you feel uneasy about waiting it out
a bit, or if you don't see improvement by the morning, then
bring her in to the vet again. Dogs vomit for so many reasons,
from small to big, keep an eye on her and trust your gut.

If she looks at all disoriented, lethargic, has loose stools on top
of the vomiting, or does not drink at all, it also means vet time.

Hope your baby feels better soon! Please keep us updated if you can.

As long as the dog is drinking, and has no other symptoms, you can technically
go up to 24 hours. But I'm telling you 12 to be safe. Most times when it's not
serious you'll see improvement within that time.

I agree. If you feed the dog with the pill, you are loading her intestinal tract with more stuff. If she likes PB, put the pill in a little amount on a spoon and generally they lick it off with the pill. Our puppies are always given a tiny amount of PB to get them used to it, and when they have to have pills, viola! they do fine with it. The other thing I do, is to have some plain pedialyte around. Make sure she drinks it. Maybe put it in her water bowl? I spooned it into Bonnie's mouth when she was so tiny. Make sure you don't pour it down her throat though---can choke that way. Good luck

Update on Luna: thank you all for the great advice. I put Luna on a 12hr fast and pedialyte and she is doing really good now. Thank you again! :)
