Hi guys,
Sorry that I haven't been very active on this forum lately.
My husband and I have been super busy moving from Germany to the US!!!
We really enjoy the area and our new apartment.
Along with our new apartment comes the fact that we now have a carpet (instead of a hard wood floor in our old home).
Our 1,5 year old male (neut.) Chihuahua, August, was used to using puppy pads whenever he had to go to the bathroom (other than on walks) that I put beside the toilet in the bathroom. I taught him to use that by putting a few drops of some "puppy pad training scent" on there. I did not bring those to the US...thinking that he would recognize the pads.
He seems to like to pee on anything soft (which is why we also don't have bath rugs...), and now it unfortunately includes our new carpet. :foxes15:
I have set him on his puppy pads (which I put in the new bathroom next to the toilet) several times and he has used them a few times.
But he seems to prefer one certain spot in our living room...this behavior is, of course, unacceptable and I need to find a way how to stop it asap.
Whenever I noticed him having peed there, I took him to the wet spot on the carpet and said "NO" firmly.
I also just ordered puppy pads that are grass scented, so hopefully that would help him understand that that's the right spot to potty.
Do you guys have had any similar experiences? What would your advice be?
I would be really happy if you could help me find a quick solution.
Have a great day, everyone!
Carina and August
