Do any of you give your dogs vitamins? Last weekend I adopted a dog from a rescue that our rescue helps out. Hes' not a chi. Actually we have no idea what he is. He's almost a yr old and weighs a little over 10#'s. He is the sweetest and cutest little dog. Anyways, I got his story from the rescue today and she told me him and his 2 siblings were dropped off at a vets office at just a couple days old. B/C of this they were bottled fed. I know it is better to have mothers milk then formula. Do you think the same can be said for dogs. I just want him to be healthy so I thought maybe he should be given a multi vitamin or something. I'm feeding him the Nutro my girls wouldn't eat. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Kristin

I have never posted pix on this site before so I may try and do so this weekend. The weather is supposed to get pretty nasty here in a couple of hrs. so I'm sure I'll have plenty of time this weekend to post some pixs!

Boy, you are not kidding about the weather report for St. Louis! :) My nephew just went there last fall for college and he has really had some weather since then! Hope you're warm and cozy!

Aw, lucky little guy to be rescued! I think if you feed a good food (like Nutro), you probably don't have to supplement--esp. since he's a year old now. That would be my first thought. Vitamins certainly can't hurt, but since their food (the good stuff) is formulated to be almost perfect (unlike what we humans eat), I think he'll be fine.

What's his name?

I'm right there with ya with the nasty weather! I live in the KC area...we're getting it now actually. :(

Anyways...I just put my dogs on vitamins. I give the People Vitamins. I got them at Petsmart (they look like people!). Gracie lost some hair on her back when she was a pup, & its been slow growing back. My vet tech recommended I try her on some vitamins. I would imagine that giving vitamins wouldn't cause any harm. Good luck! I can't wait to see pics! :)

Rachel,

How bad is it there in KC? I pray we don't lose power this time.

Dolly'sgrandma- His name is Panda.

Thanks for the response! I just get so worried about my dogs!!!! My mom thinks I'm a little over protective and I spend to much money on them. I told her if it was children no one would care! But seeing as I'm not having children I see it is perfectly fine!

It's not too bad right now. Some of the roads are really slick, some not so bad. I work in KS & live north of KC, so we drive through pretty much the whole city. Its not as bad up north. From what I hear, its suppose to get worse though. We pretty much have planned on staying inside most of the weekend! Hopefully it won't get too bad! And hopefully you guys won't be stuck without power again! That must have been awful! I'm hoping its just snowy the rest of the weekend...snow isn't too bad, its the ice I hate!

if your feeding a good quality food (nutro is) you dont need to give him a vitimain supliment.

the onlytime you should realy suppliment is if the dogs just getting over surgery or an illness, otherwise i woudnt worry too much.
