Hi Everyone

After months of studying discussion and worry we finally bought our first Chi. His name is Sparky. We actually got him on the 1st January. We took weeks to name him. He is the first dog we have ever owned but we have 3 cats. You managed to convince me that he would be fine with cats, and he is. I am completely and totally utterly smitten with him. We are doing very well with his training we had a session with a dog trainer who taught us loads. He is very good very well socialised and perfect in every way. We are struggling a little with toilet training but we are getting there. I understand that chis are harder than most to toilet train. If anyone has some tips I would love to hear them. I am sorry I dont have any pictures on this computer but I will put a picture up. He is a long haired fawn and black. The most georgous creature you ever did see. I may be biased.

Aww! Congratulations and I am so happy everything is working out well for you. Sparky is a lovely name
As for the toilet training, consistency is the key
Some chis learn faster than others
My Prada was toilet trained in 1 week and only had 3 accidents in that time. She picked it up quite quickly
With Gucci, my little boy... there is a totally different story
I am still attempting to potty train him and its harder with him because he isn't consistent with his actions (he never gives warning signs like circling or sniffing etc.. and he doesn't always try to go potty in one place. The whole house is a potty for him as of yet!)
But we are working on it too :)
Can't wait for you to post pictures!!!!

Hello and welocme, Sparky sounds adorable. Congrats on your little one. Are you crate training?

We did start with crate training which he was fine with. Then we found that if he was in a bed on our bed he slept better he will sleep from 23.00 until we wake him at about 7. He has 2 huge pees but he does hold it. This has worked well. In the cage he would wake at 4 We Would take him into bed at 7 anyway. he will be really good for a few days and go outside or on his pads then he would stare us in the face and do a little pee on the bed. Maybe he is marking his territory. Other than the peeing he is great. He understands a lot of words. Going to try to upload a picture next
