From 6 months to adult hood, how much should one expect their chi to gain, I'm sure it varies, but is there a rule of thumb to go by? Does it normally double? Thanks!

I consider my girls grown now at 19-23 months old. Since 6 months of age my youngest has gained 1/4 lb., my middle 1 lb. and my oldest 3/4 lb. They get the same exercise, nutrition and medical care. Body type and genetics clearly win out!

This is interesting to hear! Gemma is approaching 6 months in less than a week and she's only 2.6lbs, so I was wondering how much she would gain from here on.

For me, Zeus weighed about 2.2 pounds and now at almost a year he is 2.5 or MAYBE 3 pounds. He didn't gain much weight but he got taller. He looks smaller than he is because of the way his body shape is. I think it just depends on the dog though, I think Luna is "charting" to be around 3 1/2 - 4 pounds but her parents were 4 and 5 pounds. However, when I saw the photos of her parents they seemed a bit overweight (which made me a little sad for them), and Luna was the runt of the litter as well.

Gemma may not get much bigger. I didn't see a whole lot of growth in Zeus when he turned 6 months to now. He certainly looks the same size to me.

At 6 months Chloe weighted around 3.2 and weighted 4lbs at 8 months. That was her biggest growth spurt. From here she will probably end up at 4.5 full grown.

In 3 more days My guy will be 6 months. He weighed 3.1 today.

My vet guessed that he would be 5 pounds. He's charting around 4 pounds.

I would love to know how big he's going to be because I want to buy him some special clothes & a harness.

Interesting! It seems like it varies with every Chi. Gemma's been around this weight for almost 2 months now. I'm waiting for some huge growth spurt to kick in or something, lol. I can't believe she's going to be 6 months in a few days. She still looks like a baby to me!

And wow, I wish I looked that good getting out of a lake!! Seriously, you are beautiful.

It really varies. Axle is 200g lighter now at 12 months than he was at 7 months because he got really chubby after his neuter. Chloe on the other hand put on 300g between 8 months and 10 months. They are now both 2.1kg which is cute because they are half siblings. I don't think Ax will grow any more because he's been his same height and length since he was 6 or 7 months old but since Chloe just had a spurt I wouldn't put it past her to make her charted weight of 2.5kg. Winnie is 6 months in about a week and he still looks tiny so I hope he has a good growth spurt and at least catches up to Axle.

AW! Thank you! Hahaha! I bet you are beautiful getting out of the lake, moreso than I am! i bet Gemma will stay smallish, I was waiting for Zeus to have a growth spurt but he never did. He got taller but that was it. And by taller, he stands probably 9 inches tall. LOL
