...Bosco is getting a sister! We pick her up next weekend. I think her name will be Lola but I am still thinking about it. ;) Don't worry; pictures will be posted soon! She is a creamy fawn and white color with blue-green eyes. Sooo cute!

Anyway, how would you introduce the two of them? I know you are meant to do it on neutral ground, but neutral ground is outside, and outside is really cold!! Little Lola is very shivery and I don't want to make her cold when she is still so young. I can't take her to PetSmart or anything like that because of the health risks. I could take them to my parents house I guess, but they are against us getting a 2nd dog (they think Bosco will be jealous) and if Bosco and Lola don't hit it off right away, I don't want my parents saying 'I told you so!' plus they have their own dog and I'm afraid his scent may put my dogs off a bit. Soo...what would you do?

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations! As far as advice goes, I don't know  . I did a no-no and brought Buster to my house to see if he and Mr. got along. Luckily they did right from the beginning.
How old was Mr. Peepers when Buster joined the family? I'm glad things worked out so well for you, I hope we are that lucky!
Maybe in the car-take Bosco with you and then when you get the baby they can become somewhat acquainted on the way home.
However, I have never used the neutral ground theory. I usually just bring the new one into the home and only have them together when I can watch for about the first week and gradually they spend more time together.
But with a male and female it will be different than two of the same sex.
Congratulations on the new furbaby-I know that everything will go just fine.
Congratulations!

I've also never done the neutral ground thing. Just brought the new babies home and monitored their time together for awhile. I made sure #1 baby still got the attention first, fed first, cuddled first, etc. until he got used to #2 being around. #2 didn't know the difference!

Mr. Peepers was 9 months old and Buster was 8 months old. I don't know if them being close in age helped them getting along or not but it really was cool. I'm sure Bosco is going to love his new sister. Now if you were bringing in a new baby boy, maybe he'd be jealous.

BTW, if Bosco is too jealous, I'd LOVE to take him off your hands!
That's great Anna! When I brought Karma home I didn't let them meet on nuetral ground. I too monitored them together never leaving them alone. The 1st 2 days it seemed like Mikey hated her and wanted to attack her but by the 3rd day he was fine.
I can't wait to see pictures of her.
dont worry so much anna they will take a little getting used to but they will soon be the best of friends my 2 were unsure of eah other the first night but then the next day it was as if lily had always been here. good luck and I want to see pics her eyes sound adorable :D
Congratulations!!! :D

I think it will be fine however you decide to introduce them. If you feel comfortable taking Bosco with you to get the new one I think the car ride might be a somewhat nuetral place. Or you can go get the new puppy without Bosco and some time alone with the new one and introduce them when you get home. Just do like some others have said and don't let them be alone unsupervised until you are sure of how they feel about each other.

Congratulations again! I think you will love having 2 chis. It's a different experience and lots of fun! :D

It's been the same for me whenever I bring a new dog into the house, whether it be to stay or to find a home for. I just bring them in and monitor everyones mood and behavior. If someone gets too snappy then they are crated or put in the bedroom until they calm down, then usually everything runs smooth and its like they new pup was always there. Good luck and congrats!!
:blob7: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :blob7:

Chiquita was about 18 mos old when José joined the fun. I bought him rather unexpectedly, went to buy candles, came home with a puppy LOL!! So I didn't really have any time to prepare, I just brought him into our home and let Chiquita sniff him and boy she wasn't happy with me at first. Her ears were pinned straight back and she was in total defense mode. I first thought it was never going to work, but she taught him that SHE is the boss, she was mommy's baby first and always will be!! They have their separate crates, which I would HIGHLY recommend! They get along just fine now, they play together and flirt with each other and even curl up and sleep together. They still have a few moments, if Chiquita is eating, and she doesn't want him to eat with her, she will let him know that SHE gets first priority, even though I have separate bowls for them. Best of luck to you and Bosco, and I think Lola is a cute name. Post some pictures! Are you planning to do any breeding between the two of them? Or just strictly companionship?

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies! It's nice to know that the majority of you introduced them to each other at home rather than a neutral territory. Since it worked so well with you guys, we'll probably try it too.

Joebeans, Bosco is fixed and Lola will be too so there won't be any funny business going on! :D
