After some advice please...so we have a 6 wk old pup, weaning is going well we feed him good quality dry kibble which he is eating with no problem but it doesn’t seem to be filling him up. We started him on kibble soaked in warm water which we still give him 4 times a day and also leave out the dry food for him to nibble at when he wants. I did try just offering him the dry kibble but he started to try and feed off Mum which we’re trying to stop so carried on giving him the wet kibble too just to make sure he is getting enough food and it seems to be working. He only has maybe one little feed from Mum late evening. I want to carry on giving him the dry food but also a few meals extra on top of that which I think he needs maybe meat? A friend of mine is a breeder and she feeds hers raw mince and hers seem to do well but I’m not sure if that’s the right thing to do? Is he too young for that?will it upset his tummy? I would only offer him small amounts until he adjusts but not sure what to do?he is not leaving us until he is 12 wks old, and I know he’ll eat the dry kibble fine in his new home, any suggestions or people experience on this will much appreciated. Thanks 🙂

I'm a bit confused, your Chihuahua female had a puppy? And the puppy is still wanting to feed off of it's mom?
It's not getting enough food?

Have you tried can food? I'm sure he'd gobble it up.
I'm not sure on other's opinion on this but this is just my experience. My dog Jr was still very young and he got sick (it's what pups gets and their lymph nodes swell up with puss I can't remember the name, not Parvo though) He had started getting "picky/becoming a brat" but I couldn't blame him he was on medicine and just uncomfortable having swelling. So the vet said give him whatever he'll eat (within reason) because he had to take food with the medicine. So as I was paying at the front desk we started talking to the ladies up front and they recommended goats milk. He actually loved it and it got him a bit chunky and shortly after he started eating kibble again.

Sorry should of been a bit more specific. Yes are female had a puppy he’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow he’s now eating dry kibble (quite a lot) through out the day. He does still sometimes try and feed from Mum but this is rare and she has started kicking him off because of his teeth. I’m sure he’s getting enough food now and he does seem content and happy. How long does it take for mums milk to dry up? I think I was just worrying as this is our first litter, but we seem to getting into a good routine now ☺

Are you a breeder?

I'm sure the pup just has to learn that he's too old and the only way for the mom to correct him to not do it.

Well we have bred the puppy so yes I suppose we are breeders this is our first litter and although have done a lot of research there’s still a lot to learn. With him not feeding I’m presuming her milk will dry up soon
