Hi everyone, dont know if any of you remember that charchi had a problem with fluxating patella, well he,s doing very well now he,s on anti inflametries so no operation, great news. I also decided to go ahead with getting a female companion for him. I have put a deposit on a chi, which isen,t even born yet, but i,ll be paying the breeder off,. My question is, charchi is a very active and excitable, dog and rules the house, should i get a chi thats on the quite side, or one thats like charchi full on ,? what should i look for in a pup ?

I would definitely get one quieter! I now have 2 rowdy boys and one quieter girl and if it wasn't for her I think my house would be in chaos every day! A lot of people say Chi girls are quieter anyway, and that's my experience from my current Chi girl and my Chi x JRT I had as a child - much more laid back and real snugglers who would rather sit on your lap and watch the boys play most of the time (Chloe does have her moments, especially when she's playing ball).

I agree with Sarah, I would go with a more mellow and submissive girl. If you get another dog that challenges Charchi too much, it could lead to problems with aggression between the two. If one is more submissive to the other, a natural hierarchy will develop without incident, hopefully. Also, she may be able to mellow him out a bit and he may get her to play and be a bit more wild. They would balance each other off well.

I too agree with Sarah, my girl, otherwise known as "Miss Fatty Boombars" (have to somehow get her on a diet) is the calmest, sweetest, quietest thing who will lead the others to food, water, sleep, chew time and behaving with decorum.
