I have 5 Chi's here that live with me, along with a Maltese and a Pekingese. Charlie is a 2 1/2 yr old and has been chewing and licking on Lizzy's beautiful long hair all day. I just looked and noticed that he has chewed two bald spots on her! Why would he do this? I put him on the other side of the gate because he wouldn't quit (he is obsessed with it) and he just sits and whines, looking at her. She is the only one he has done this to. She is not in heat, which is the only other time I have noticed the boys chewing or licking on the girls' hair, and even then it isn't like this.

Even weirder, he seems to be "guarding" her and not letting the other boys around her. He lays right next to her, or on top of her growling if they come near.

She must be putting off pheramones of some sort or getting ready to come into heat & he knows it.
