Here I was enjoying a relaxing evening flicking through the new issue of cosmo or the 20 somethings bible. When I come upon an article entitled "the Scoop on Teacup Pups" in which they hail toy breeds as the new "IT accessory". Not only do they use the word Teacup but they say they spoke to a toy breed specialist Gail Mason of Portland Maine. Shouldn't this specialist have told them theres no such thing as teacups! so mad right now.

Haha...direct the editor to this site, he/she will sure get an earful.

Ash got the Chihuahua Magazine for me at petsmart and there is so much info in there. But they did clearly make a short article saying there is no such thing. But off topic...I was doing little checks on Seiah comparing it to the magazines list of chihuahua standards and I noticed Seiah has a pretty big underbite. It was soo funny to me that I never noticed, and yes I do brush his teeth.

I would write them a letter too. I can't believe they would put something like that in thier magazine without looking into it first. And asking ONE "breeder" is not doing research. And if she was such an expert, she should have educated them on what a "teacup" really is.

That really really makes me mad that such a well known magazine would be so irresponsible as to call any living creature an IT accessory. I may have to research how to send them a leeter. it's too bad we can't send one with signatures from all the members here.  :( :(

Cosmo putting something like that in their magazine is just going to make the young girls and young women who read that article go out and want to buy one, and when the whole "chi fad" goes out of style, then what's going to happen to all those pups that were bought as the new "IT" accessory? I really hate how people have made the chihuahua a fashion accessory. When I got Chico, I got him because I wanted a small dog (because I live in an apartment) and I wanted a dog that would live a long time. I didn't get him because Paris Hilton has one, I didn't get hime because I thought "oh, he'll look so cute in a little carrier that matches my outfit" and I didn't get him because everyone else has one.

I don't have a subscription to Cosmo anymore, but my sister in law does and I'm going to skim that article this weekend. Then, I will write the magazine also, and express to them my concern. Maybe they'll publish one of our letters in a few months in their "tell Cosmo" section, or whetever its called, where they publish letters they've received.
